aTomsLife
Oh and not to mention, that sean guy was charged with possessing child porn last year, so he's basically a pedophile. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/revealed-scot-who-fled-thai-4306609 If on a cloudy day you're being robbed at gunpoint and the assailant says he thinks it's going to rain, does his character factor into the likelihood that his statement is true? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem Abusive[edit]Abusive ad hominem usually involves attacking the traits of an opponent as a means to invalidate their arguments. Equating someone's character with the soundness of their argument is a logical fallacy. Mere verbal abuse in the absence of an argument, however, is not ad hominem nor any kind of logical fallacy.[12] Ad hominem abuse is not to be confused with slander or libel, which employ falsehoods and are not necessarily leveled to undermine otherwise sound stands with character attacks. It's awful the guy is a convicted sex offender, but ultimately it has nothing to do with the validity of his story concerning the murders.

Thailand was not at all serious about arresting any Thai citizens connected to this. It was the brave heart "Sean McAnna" who posted the Facebook 7-11 shop picture while hiding in the shop for this life gave a proper message and attention to the world. Now Thailand is forced to take action on own citizens now. The next step will be, they will appoint a lousy Thai lawyer who don't show any interest to convict or prove, and accused will deny going for DNA test. Then later they will announce there is not enough evidence to prove until and unless of Scotland Yoad, or FBI rope in for investigation or until if most countries give warning as Thailand bad destination for holidays. Let us hope the two young British youths will justice from Thailand. Edited September 23, 2014 by NextStationBangkok
Lukecan
if it was not the mafia, maybee they were now " cooperating " to find the culptries, as it would not tuch there business in KT and Samui; Would someone kindly translate this drivel into readable and understandable English ? He's basically saying the murderer is not a person with connections, so they'll make an arrest.
Triplebank999
Pol Lt-Gen Panya Mamen, commissioner of the Eighth Region Police Command, said the police have now detained all the suspects for questioning, and now have gained evidences of who are the murderer or murderers. There is more than one, he said, and expressed confidence they will be arrested and charged within this week, he added. Two mutually exclusive statements. Well done! Well done! Ever heard of inadvertent translation inconsistencies?

Mackie
The news is certainly great. I hope the suspect who is hiding in Bangkok is caught before he leaves the country. Anyway I still believe there are more than two people involved. It would have taken at least two Asian guys to overcome David and at the same time someone had to keep an eye on Hannah unless she was completely paralyzed by fear or whatever. brd
Take your times Police not ours. we know it is a small island and well connected together community the Police knows them all individually. Not a new case as similar murders occurred in the past in many islands. The first advice is foreigners do not mingle with the locals,do not get drunk in bars or accept drugs,do not let any girlfriend or woman feeling she is safe on her own at any times day and night especially if being wearing inappropriate clothing not differentiating going for a swim or going to beat the roads, be careful when riding motorbikes or driving jeeps locals are thinking they own the island and they are Big caids having no masters. Second enjoy the paradise feelings very carefully thinking of all under the tropics real dangers included jelly fishes, cobras snakes and mad people exist. It is an horrific drama, how can it be never ever repeated. Only surprise we all can be the CCTV's are working doing part of a useful job ( many more with lighting should be installed ) as anyone could see the primary suspect was a local Thai, watching him in panic run, using our honest eyes. So sad and not a first. Edited September 23, 2014 by brd

Popular Post Sueemily
To mikephuket1970 I'm sorry to say but a lot of what has been posted on this forum is true .No one is Thai bashing,Thailand is a beautiful place which is what attracted my daughter there in the first place. Yes many murders go unsolved in the uk,but the UK police don't issue false statements, don't claim that an arrest will take place in the next week, and don't try to pin the murder on some one very low down the social scale. Have you ever had to deal with the Thai authorities,to say they are difficult is an understatement. If you aske questions that they can't or won't answer then they go off on a different tangent completely. Without the pressure from the media then this case would probably either not been solved or pinned on a nobody, preferably not a Thai. Believe me I know .....
Popular Post mrtoad
More importantly how will this effect tourism?????? Well, ask yourself... "Will you be going to Koh Tao in the near future?" Absolutely not, and I would like to see a mass boycott of said Island. The only way for scum to really get the message is to hit them were it hurts, and in this case that's in the pocket. This has been a disgusting cover up form the very first minute that the victims were discovered. Errrr ... do you suppose that some innocents might suffer in the economic holocaust or is everyone on the island guilty by association (including the farangs?)? Those islands unfortunately are lawless and need a good clean up. Plenty of other places in Thailand that don't have that vibe.

Carrerakiss
Looks like a few of us may eat humble pie (like me) looks like the police may have found the correct murderers / not stitched anybody up etc For that i apologise for doubting them and hope this is the future now There was no choice, the international spotlight was just too bright for it to be brushed under the carpet or ignored. Strange though, I thought no Thai would commit such a terrible crime. Is the village headman a farang? It's a rhetorical question wrapped in sarcasm........ok? almafudd
In Australia we had a famous QLD politician, who has since passed away, who used to describe media briefings as "feeding the "chooks" Oz slang for chickens. Smurkster
in English we have 24 consonants and 12 vowels. Why not tell your BS to the mother of Kirsty Jones and many others ? laolover88
Close down, clean up, Remove all people without Chanoot. Is there Chanoot on Koh Tao? Remove all buildings and businesses encroaching on the Angthong Marine Park, inland or on beaches. Start again. It's an army is it not? Can do it in Phuket can do it there. And Koh Phangan and Samui next. That is a workload. But why not? mike324
The suspect Montriiwat Toovichien who is the brother of the village chief was interrogated and released after his DNA was collected. For all we know he could have fled by now. He was the one who intimidated Sean McAnna. I have a feeling this suspect will be another no match, and he will not be arrested for making threats and intimidation. What I don't understand is if Sean was a friend of David Miller, why would he still be out drinking and especially be at the AC bar where both victims were at the night of their death, and where they reportedly (not verified) had an altercation. Oziex1
I'll congratulate the RTP for solving cases, when they do it with out hesitation, without rifle carrying soldiers accompanying them when they consistently arrest guilty members of the ruling classes and without demands from the government. When it is known they no longer own Mercedes, bars, shares in resorts. The weight of history is against them, respect will be given when the truly earn it and that is still many cases and years away I fear.
MediaWatcher
khunpa, on 23 Sept 2014 - 15:17, said: Seems like he is buying more time for so called discussions. If they had enough evidence and knew who the killers were, they would have arrested them by now. Also it is very strange that they have detained suspects, but have yet to arrest the guilty ones. Any normal police would make arrests, if they knew who it was. You do not let killers walk around free, if you know who they are and at the same time state that you have detained other suspects. Seriously, how stupid a statement is that? Maybe they have a few burmese workers detained who are by now at the breaking point and ready to confess to anything. So a couple of days more and the case will be "solved". Great police work and you have to admire their straightforward and very controlled information system. Police forces from around the world could learn a lot from this (NOT!) Let's not forget a couple of years ago the red bull heir killed a cop, still hasn't been to trial, and as we know.....never will.
