(Hope I got the right forum)

Hello,

My German passport expires in the middle of December.

Want to go visit my relatives in Germany in October or November.

And renew my passport while I'm there.

My questions:

- Can I fly back home with a passport that expires soon?

- Will the Thai Customs let me go?

- Can I fly to the Czech Republic or Austria? (cheaper tickets :-) )

Best regards,

MaiRoo

Of course, it hasn't expired yet and as long as you have a visa to cover you. You would just struggle to get in with just a few months validity left. You could fly anywhere within the EU.

lf you are Thai, then you must have at least 6 months to visit most countries in Europe. They will be worried about your passport expiring whilst in their country. if you are German you could fly back 2 days before the passport expires. Never heard of anyone having problems getting into their own country with short-dated passport, only problems are going to other countries. l have had past experience of this in past with British passport.

Thanks for the quick replies guys.

Much appreciated.

I'm German living in Thailand.

You could fly anywhere within the EU.

Does this mean I can fly to any of the Schengen countries without problems?

Do you have a German ID card? if so you should be able to enter any Shengen country on that, I am sure as per the Hague convention you will only need to prove your have German citizenship and an expired passport should do that, the only issue could be Immigration will cheek that your citizenship is still valid.
