try a system restore to a time/date prior to your problem.

also run an anti-spyware and anti-virus program to make sure your PC is clean.

as a last resort try to re-install IE from your WIN-XP CD.

Probable has to do something with the last update from Service Pack 1 to Service Pack 2. I've short time googled and have seen many of this problems and how you can fix it, but I can't helpt you too much, because I'm a Mac OSX user - sorry :o .

Hi Dutch. Just a thought. Have you tried "clearing the cache"? More than just a few times, I've solved "weird" XP problems by "clearing the cache". To do this: On any explorer page, click the tab "tools", then click "internet options". Under the "General Tab" click "Delete Files" and then tick (put a checkmark) the "Delete offline content". Then click "ok". When it finishes, try your IE again. :o

Go to the start menu and open the run dialogue.

Type in:

"SFC /scannow".

This will check a lot of the system files and replace corrupted ones. Your update was quite a while ago and if you are only experiencing it now it is likely something you have installed recently (or someone has i.e your g/f :o.
