Assuming she is Thai she'll need a visa.

If you fly emirates, they'll sort the visa for you bm when booking the ticket.

I am going through the same process FB, moving over there with work. Not sure if my family can do a visa on arrival, just waiting on confirmation from the office. Will let you know.

Thanks mate. I wanna take her and the kids there next year hopefully. Just for a holiday. Plenty of Thai workers there so your visa should be a doddle

I took my Thai wife in February this year with Etihad .Once you've booked your flight there is a link through the web site to apply for the visa .

You have to show stamps in her passport, biometrics , ect it took about 1 week for her visa too come through and you just print it off .

We were looking into a cruise. One cruise that we looked into was in the UAE. For a European passport holder no issue, a Thai would need a visa. How to get one?

- fly emirates: not an option as the cruise package already included a flight with an other company.

- get a visa via the embassy. We live in NL but the wife would need to go to London, as it's the only embassy in the EU. For the UK she would need a visa. She would need a free EU/EAA but that can only be obtained via either an outsourced party who sents all papers to the UK and back) OR arriving at the border (Chunnel, ferry) without a visa and gaining access under Directive 2004/38 (non EU nationsl jouning EU spouse). A few months ago we were not married yet do arriving at the border would not be an option.

We decided not to bother. If the UEA makes it that difficult, it aint worth it. Just as the UK is not really worth visiting with their silly outsourcing. Best option: wait for naturalisation or more relaxed visa rules. Since visa facilities are seen as a cost/burden I doubt that a nation like the UK will go back to quick direct applications at it's embassies around the world, the UEA probably won't bother either (fly emirates).

So it will become a cruise around the Mediterranean. No visa hassle, no different currency for only slighly more money.
