October 9, 201411 yr Looking to buy 3 bathroom ceiling extractor fans with a timer. Went to HomePro. No luck there.. Anyone know where to buy in Chiangmai or maybe order from Bangkok?
October 9, 201411 yr If you don't mind ordering from outside Thailand you can get them here, or so it seems: http://www.screwfix.com/c/bathrooms-kitchens/extractor-fans-bathrooms/cat840654 Not so cheap, are they?
October 10, 201411 yr Yep I know the type youre after. They are the one you use to extract the damp or steamy air out of the bathroom and operate for a few minutes or so after turning the lights off (Thats if youve wired the extractor fans upto the light switch). Also used to extract unpleasant smells..... if you know what I mean I`ll keep my eyes open on my travels but at this stage cannot recall seeing any.
October 10, 201411 yr Just briefly, I have spent a lot of energy trying to get these here in Thailand but no luck. If you bring one in you'd better be sure you have someone to wire it properly if you want it to come on with the lights and run on after you turn them off, as all you'll get is blank looks from even moderately well qualified electricians. If you can find contractor who does installations for high end hotels you may get lucky. I bought a (quite expensive) independent Xpelair delay timer from the UK and even with the circuit diagram the sparks couldn't handle the installation properly. In the end just gave up and let him wire it with the light rather than have no fan at all. Have the unit here - if you're interested PM me and I'll try to find it.
October 11, 201411 yr Author Thanks for the replies...looks like at this stage I'll just wire the buggers onto the light switch. Next time a sparky mate comes over maybe get him to bring the timers over.
June 15, 201510 yr There are remotes sold separately for ceiling fans that control their operation and have a timer. I can think of no reason they could not be used, if the fixed times (e.g., 1 hr, 3 hrs, 5 hrs) are acceptable.
June 15, 201510 yr You might consider on of those proximity senors ( sold near the garden lighting)... The fan will start when it senses you enter the room and then it has a dial setting to turn off after it senses no movement....

While a bathroom exhaust fan is often mounted in the ceiling, it isn't really considered a "ceiling fan." What you are suggesting, would work, but 5 or 10 minutes would take care of the nastiest dump odors. I just want an exhaust fan with a light built in....one switch, one wire.
