Udon - Need Dress for Farang Groom's Mom

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. I'm a Chiang Mai expat catching up with an old friend who met his Udon girl in the US. We're all here for the wedding this weekend, but first the Groom's mom and her sister - both ladies in their 60s who are somewhat elegant, but not haughty, want to get Thai-style silk dress made. Not too silly and over the top, and not looking for the most expensive. Any ladies out there have a favorite tailor/shop to get custom/bespoke dresses? We're right in the center of the city, if that helps.

Thanks !

Plenty of shops everywhere with ready made, if that's acceptable.

yeah. We're talking Western ladies in their 60s and about 160lbs ea, here. Off the rack in Thailand isn't going to work. Guess we'll just go off the map advertisers as much as we hate to do that. Bespoke/custom is the only thing that's going to work.

Thanks anyway.

Best bet will be to ask the bride to ask her family for a dressmaker nearby. Being Thai, they should know a good variety and will know who has a good reputation, they might even personally know some of the dressmakers and so be able to ask for a favour in having it made quickly in time for the wedding.

Most of the guys on the forum here are exactly that, guys, and so might know tailors in Udon, but when it comes to a dressmaker, probably don't know the good from the bad (Most would just ask their wife, so probably best to just ask the bride's family directly).
