I'm returning to the UK early 2015 and have a Honda CRV to sell ahead of the move........................Does anyone have experience/dealer recommendations for selling a car to a Bangkok dealership or motor trade

Any suggestions welcomed smile.png

The first advice that comes to mind is, don't lose your cool when they make their offer - it's not a seller's market.

I'd try to sell it privately first on Thai Visa classifieds, Baht and Sold (Craigslist is crap and full of scammers and tyre kickers), also Facebook (Bangkok Expats), Villa Market notice board soi 33. If you have a Thai that can help, there are many used car websites. Selling to a used car dealer will get you bottom dollar.

No idea is yours a saloon or Hatch ?

As a idea a friend has 2 in his tent, both saloons

1x 2.0 Ghia sliver with white leather @ 328,000 baht

1x 2.0 TDCi sliver with white leather @ 399,000 baht

a few tents away there is a Black 2.0 TDCi 5 door hatch @ 590,000 baht

so say Thais do not like diesel cars.. there again so say they like saloons over hatchbacks, but hatchbacks hold there value better !!

Car just do not hold there value anymore.

We sold our Honda CRV, 2.0 E model, May 2007, in April for B555,000. It had 113,000 km, one single expat owner and we also had it serviced regularly at the Honda dealer. Suggest you advertise it on one of the Thai auto sales sites. They are all in Thai so you will need a Thai speaker to get your car listed. We sold ours on www.talarod.com but also check out www.thaicar.com. and post there too as both are free. We got many calls and we had it sold in a couple of weeks. I'm sure you know that you will get a lousy price from the "tents" and dealers but it does make for a quick and easy sale. Good luck.

hi petercr,

it appears from spaniel's reply that you would be able to sell your car at a price higher than what you quoted! good luck!

hi spaniel,

any recommendations if I do not want to rely on a TH friend? if possible, I would rather do it myself and not trouble others. thanks!

hi ignis.

what you say about cars holding their value these days in TH is true - all thanks to the government's hare-brained ideas to stimulate the economy with their car scheme!

mine's a hatchback... couldn't really make myself like the saloon... maybe that's why the prices are so low! are both your friend's saloons also 2012 registered?

the prices do seem rather low, but i'm hoping that I can get a better price since mine is very seldom used and only has 16,000 km of mileage with a full warranty until 2017.
