Whilst at immigration the other day I went to the food court for lunch, as I walked around the small food stalls I passed one stall with a farang cooking and also serving the Thai immigration staff.

How can he get a visa and work permit for this?

He may have Thai nationality.

He may not have Thai nationality but be a volunteer at Immigration.

He may be neither of the above but be known to Immigration.

Only someone just off the last plane would not understand that laws here are enforced selectively.

Perhaps he has Thai citizenship.

Maybe, maybe, maybe..... Maybe he just bought a service and a workpermit via/from one of the ads here at this forum??

The secret is in the work description. You might not get a work permit serving food, but you can get one for cooking food.

He applied for an extension for reason of cooking but was asked to provide proof.

I doubt very much its a concern, i also doubt Chappie 1207 is loosing any sleep over this. Its an interesting notice, seeing a farang working in an immigration center. There are obviously reasons why and how this farang is working at the center, but sometimes, just sometimes, curiosity does get to some of us..

They should read the whole sentence, it says cooking and also serving. That can be a big difference when it comes to the a work permit.

It is likely that the guy is legal, and not dossing about in some grind house on an ed visa.
