I am having trouble linking my wireless Bluetooth headphones to my Windows 7 laptop.

Loaded driver OK but sound still comes from laptop and not headphones.

Right-Click the SPEAKER icon in the System Tray (near the clock), select "Playback Devices"

Your choices should be available here. I believe setting the headphones as the 'default' will set to audio to play back via the bluetooth device, or revert back to PC audio if bluetooth device is unavailable.

You may need to select the desired device and use the "Configure" button to run through the configure wizard one time.

also, try double-clicking the output you want,

then in (General) tab, at the very bottom select "Device Usage:" Use this device (enable) OK / OK

If you have another Bluetooth speaker/headset try connecting to that.

Or try connecting to your speaker with another device.

Sometimes, some devices are not compatible with each other.

I experienced a Nokia phone which could not connect to a Bose SoundLink Mini Bluetooth speaker.

The device has loaded OK and also the driver. It's just the sound which continues to come from the laptop.

When I switch sound to my HD Plasma TV I have no problem. I only have one headset.

Very odd as usually the audio will only pipe though only one active/selected device.

While you could always manually disable the laptop sound by selecting Speakers and Properties

then in (General) tab, at the very bottom select "Device Usage: Don't use this device (disable) OK / OK
The problem will be when you disconnect the bluetooth device you will need to go back an enable the speakers. A bit of a pain.

I have Logitech a H800 headset. It took me awhile to figure this out and at first I was going to return them cause I could not connect to my Win 7 laptop.

Try this, power up the headset and turn on your computer's bluetooth. Then right click on the bluetooth icon in your taskbar select Show Bluetooth Devices. If your computer has previously connected to your headset it should be listed there (If not you will have to add your device and I'll get to that later). If your device is listed left click on it. You should be presented with the option to Listen To Music (stereo is good for movies, gaming or you guessed it...music, but the mic does not work at least on my headset) or if your headset has a microphone it will also have the option to Forward VoIP Calls to Handsfree (mono but the mic works). Once connected you will see a green check-mark next to your selection.

Now if after you click on Show Bluetooth Devices and you don't see your headset listed, close that window and turn off your headset. Check your headsets documentation/manual for instructions on how to make it discoverable. After you have enabled discovery right click the bluetooth icon and then click add device. If the headset is successfully discovered and added you may need to go back to Show Bluetooth Devices and select music or handsfree.

Hope that helps you.

By the way, I use the Windows driver and not the one that came with the headset. It was crap! Maybe try uninstalling the driver and trying without it.

Have tried that but sound still coming from laptop.

When you respond, you really need to state BOTH of the obvious, as in

"Have tried that but sound still coming from laptop and not the headphones."

Otherwise readers may believe that your headphones ARE WORKING. (At least, I thought this)

Try the options that Pakaty suggested.

See if the Bluetooth headphones are showing up under the Bluetooth in the system tray.

Or see if they show up under Start Menu / Control Panel / Devices and Printers < (includes sound devices)

Open the item and see if there are any additional configurations or activation options

Hi RichCor

I was not aware that sound could come out of 2 devices at the same time.

I had more respect for you than to state the obvious.

I'll try to remember in future to state the obvious on my postings.

It's possible to send audio to multiple outputs but usually only through misconfiguration.

When researching your topic I found a large number of people asking how to send audio to multiple outputs in Windows 7 and the responses unanimously said it can't be done. After reading these I questioned my assumption ... and yes it was my interpretation that was misconfigured. I was so wedded to my original thoughts I wasn't willing to trash them completely. Sorry.

Probably would have been better on my part to have worded my response as a question to verify you had yet to get the headphone unit recognized under bluetooth devices or even see if it had advanced software configuration options.

Everything went OK and then I got under Listening To Music " Connecting to Bluetooth Service". It never got past here and has now been trying to connect for the last 10 minutes and yes my Headset is switched on.

Any idesas

What Manufacturer/Model are you trying to use? I'd like to look up the specs and google for issues.

Are you using the software that came with the headset, or just the default Windows Bluetooth driver software?

MH 100h Melon Morph Bluetooth headphone

It features Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity with advanced multipoint, which allows you to connect the MH 100h to two Bluetooth enabled handsets at the same time. You can accept calls from both, placing one on hold to pick up a call from the second. Noise reduction and echo cancellation help preserve audio quality during calls and music playback. The MH 100h is powered by a built-in rechargeable battery that provides 10 hours of music playback and up to 15 hours of talk time on a single 2-hour charge.

Curious, have you tried connecting them with another bluetooth device, like a mobile phone?

Does the box, literature or user manual show a website where you might find device driver updates?

Hooray!!!!!

I've got it working. Only problem is that it seems to require me to download driver each time I want to use headset but I guess I can live with that.

They work fine with my mobile phone.
