Finance Ministry demands transparency in rice subsidy scheme

BANGKOK, 24 October 2014 (NNT) - The Finance Ministry has ordered all relevant government agencies involved in disbursing payments to farmers in the administration's 1,000 baht per rai subsidy program to perform their duties transparently.

Finance Minister Sommai Phasee has gone down to Tha Wung District in Lopburi province to monitor the progress of the project. The total amount of money to be spent on this program is expected to top 40 billion baht and all the farmers are expected to receive their payments no later than November.

More than 3.5 million households will benefit from this program. Relevant agencies have been urged to perform their duties with honesty and integrity, the finance minister said.

According to the Finance Minister, he would also seek consultation from the deputy economic minister regarding measures to help resolve the chronic problems of informal debt. Members of the private sector will be asked to provide debtors with“nano-finance loans” at low-interest rates in order to bail them out of loan sharks' control.

Now that the Finance Ministry has "ordered" officials to perform their duties transparently that will ensure no corruption occurs. The answer was so simple.

Why ever not?

After all the Finance Ministry under its former PTP Mininster always did as they were told, even if the Minister didn't always tell the truth.

The only truths are birth, suffering, death, and rebirth. If a politicians tells you he cares about the people. it is not true. This is the same all over the world, politicians only care about themselves, the party and how much they can acquire for them selves from the tax payers money. coffee1.gif

I do not like that it is called "to farmers" as if every farmer got help, when in fact it is only those, who has the special documents!People in my district live from farming, but nobody has those papers and get nothing.I think it should be everyone or nobody!
