Crime Security Guard Found Dead by Railway Tracks in Mysterious Circumstances
Picture courtesy of Matichon. A Myanmar national working as a security guard at a high-speed railway construction site was found dead in suspicious circumstances beside a railway track in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province on evening of 5 June. Police and rescue officials were called to the scene near Ban Pho Railway Station in Bang Pa-in district, where they discovered the body of 40-year-old Mr Thein Zaw lying on his back in the grass beside track number three. Police reported that Mr Thein Zaw had a severe head wound at the back of his skull, approximately 15 centimetres long, with significant blood loss. A large rock stained with blood was found near the body and collected as evidence. The body was sent to Bang Pa-in Hospital for autopsy. Mr Thein Zaw was employed as a night-time security guard overseeing the electrical unit near the railway station for the high-speed rail project. According to a local resident, Ms Nueng, a colleague spotted Mr Thein Zaw’s body from the railway line. She stated that he had been seen alive earlier in the evening, purchasing items from a nearby convenience store. Another local, 44-year-old Mr Jek, told reporters that Mr Thein Zaw was often seen cycling between his workplace and residence, which was located not far from the scene. He also confirmed seeing the victim alive the previous evening. The owner of a local grocery shop, 44-year-old Ms Wipasiri, said Mr Thein Zaw was a regular customer. She recalled that he came to the shop on the evening at around 18:15, with two friends to buy alcohol. CCTV footage confirmed he was wearing the same clothes later found on his body. The victim’s supervisor arrived at the scene but declined to give a statement to the media. However, he noted that Mr Thein Zaw was not known to use the railway and questioned why he was found so far from his assigned post, raising suspicions about the circumstances of his death. Police are continuing their investigation and plan to interview the victim’s co-workers and others who may be connected to the case. Adapted by Asean Now from Matichon 2025-06-06 -

Crime Pattaya Police Detain Armed Foreign Gang Near Tourist Area
Picture courtesy of SiamChon. Pattaya City Police, working with municipal special operations officers, detained 22 foreign youths in the early hours of the 4 June, after they were found armed and gathering near a popular tourist area, raising concerns for public safety. At approximately 03:05, Pol. Col. Anek Srathongyu, Superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, was alerted by Pattaya Special Affairs officers to a large group of foreign youths assembling at the skate park near Bali Hai Pier, South Pattaya, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. The group was reported to be heavily armed, prompting fears they may be preparing to cause a disturbance or engage in violence. Upon arrival, officers encountered 22 male individuals claiming to be of Cambodian, Burmese and Karen ethnic origin. A search of the area uncovered more than 10 concealed weapons, including sparta-style blades, sickle-like knives and homemade knives with black tape-wrapped handles. These were hidden around the skate park in what authorities believe was an attempt to avoid detection while preparing for a possible violent confrontation. Fortunately, the authorities were able to intervene in time, preventing any incidents from occurring. A preliminary check revealed that only a few of the individuals were able to produce valid identification documents. Ten motorcycles found at the scene were also seized for inspection. The group was taken into custody and transported to Pattaya City Police Station, their identities and legal status are being verified. Police are conducting background checks and processing the confiscated weapons and vehicles. Those found to be in violation of Thai law will face legal proceedings. The arrests took place just a short distance from Pattaya’s well-known Walking Street. Officials emphasised that the swift action by Pattaya’s Special Affairs unit and local police prevented a potentially dangerous incident and underscored the importance of maintaining strict security in tourist zones. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety of both residents and visitors in the city. Adapted by Asean Now from SiamChon 2025-06-06 -
