Is there anybody out there who refuses to accept that Analogue is a thing of the past. Do you still play LP's and even better does anybody still use reel to reel as I do - 13kg's of reel to reel music machine can't beaten (would like a 25kg 10 inch reel to reel machine but it will not go in my suitcase) and it looks a lot better than having your entire record collection on a 16 GB chip inside your phone.

Love it ? never sell your records, the sound is so full and warm, but is this Thailand related?

Just interested if there are any other ex-pats in Thailand who are of the same opinion as me with regards to Analogue. My record collection is in the UK and on a recent trip to the UK I planned to bring my turntable back with me but on testing it burnt out, so for the time being the records will stay in storage in the UK. I will have to settle for reversing the Digital to Analogue tape-Not sure if anything was lost when the Analogue was converted to Digital. I need a good supply of good new/nearly new 7 inch tapes, which is where the Thailand connection comes in as maybe some TV members have some 7 inch tapes lying around what they do not need anymore.

Nar...

Audio and video tapes annoyed the hell out of me, and even DVDs and CDs.

I'm happy to have everything digital, I can even get what I need by logging in to my server abroad...

Vinyl is making a comeback and it will be here to stay, maybe not in Thailand as I have noticed the Thais do not appear to collect things, but nothing can compare to the joy of buying the latest album of your favorite band, taking it home and putting it on the turntable. HMV in Hong Kong have hundreds of LP's. and you can buy many high end turntables in Bangkok (so maybe the Thais do collect).

I'm still a believer in analogue amplification* and analogue transducers, but everything before that can be digital, thanks :)

I still have more than 100 LP's, but my SQ expectations have moved on, so they never see the light of day anymore.

Maybe I'm just not nostalgic enough? :P

* Except for really big power stuff. Crown's digital amps are incredible.

I would worry about storage of vinyl and tape in LOS

The heat could warp vinyl

and the humidity creates mould problems with tapes

Any idea what is the best way to keep the tapes protected from the heat and humidity as I plan to bring more to LOS

There have been threads in the Photography section about

storage for cameras and lenses with low humidity

You could look there for advice.
