Hi there, sorry, was dead set on Cairns as i had family move there in the 50's (way before my time), but thought i would pop in and see my uncle Jack anyway, however i thought Cairns was white sand and turquoise seas, turns out it isn't, and i've only been to melb and syd before so wanted to try somewhere new and to my liking, by the sounds of it the islands of Queensland fits the bill with a few other places, so thank you all, for your advice

Fly Bangers-brisbane

Do Brisbane for a day or 2

Head south to the Gold Coast - a good few days here

Then fly GC - airlie beach/hamilton island for your coral reefs

Then fly into cairns visit the uncle -there are some nice spots off the coast and Nth at Port douglas

Fly cairns into somewhere sth east asia direct home
