Interior Ministry orders building inspections before New Year celebrations begin

BANGKOK, 19 November 2014 (NNT) – The Permanent-Secretary to the Interior Ministry has instructed every province to enforce the law regarding building safety before the New Year celebrations begin.

Permanent-Secretary for Interior Wiboon Sanguanpong said that hotels and entertainment joints are often used as a celebration venue to attract revelers. In case the buildings do not meet certain safety standards, then a lot of lives as well as property can be at risk.

To assure safety, Mr. Wiboon has told every provincial office to make sure property and business owners strictly follow the safety regulations in order to prevent the likelihood of a fire or any related accidents.

A building inspection is also required for a space of over 200 square meters. Authorities will examine buildings that are suspected of breaching safety regulations.

Not only inspections but repairs and then reinspect. I would suggest this is just another case of all talk, no action. Is there some sort of contest going on where he in authority who speaks the most crap wins a prize because there seems to be many competing for it.
