Bua Tong Sunflower Festival in Khun Yuam - Full blooming

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

We made last week - as every year - the loop to Mae Hong Son and then further to Pai.

In Khun Yuam the Bua Tong Sunflowers were really nice blooming, around 70% of the flowers were open.

I guess next week must be the peak of the blooming season.

The correct GPS co-ordinates from the Bua Tong Sunflower fields are: 18 53 37.48N, 98 05 23.50E

The co-ordinates from the other forum member are from/in Khun Yuam, street no. 108. But you need to follow the street no. 1263 until you reach the co-ordinates.

Or if you may use google search/google maps, you can enter the following term:

Thung Bua Tong Fields at Doi Mae U Kho Mae U Kho Mae Hong Son

This is now the best time of the season. You will enjoy it. Even the trip is a nice ride.

Is this in/around Pai itself? Or on the MHS side?

Thanks to the OP.. GPS 18.894999, 98.091087. About 66 km south of MHS.

What would be the easiest - less hilly route? Some drive through Doi Suthep - some drive via Chom Thom - some indicate Ob Luong.......looking for the easiest less hilly route from CM......

This is clearly the street no. 108. You leave Chiang Mai towards the south and drive through Mae Sariang.

As it is the most less hilly route all the cargo trucks and over long vehicles take this route to Mae Hong Son and you could get stuck many km behind a stinking truck.

Well, it's Mae Hong Son. It's hilly. It's what they do best, and part of the attraction.

The hills are alive... with pretty flowers..

So when you really love me, you should bring me Edelweiss..

Now I wonder if there is a less hilly route to see Everest...
