Where To Buy a Battery For A Dell Inspiron 1440 To An Affordable price?

Hello and Sawasdee khrap,

It's really time now to replace my DELL's battery. I don't want to sound cheap, but I'm not willing to pay 2,500 baht for one. I've seen an advertisement on Amazon, but never did such an order.

Could you theoretically only replace the Lithium batteries? What would be the best way to buy a good quality battery that's not made in China?

Any input would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks a lot in advance.

What batteries do you imagine your laptop contains beyond the lithium-ion battery in the link? Aren't all batteries made in China these days? You might buy direct from China:

aliexpress.com

I did buy a cheap battery from Amazon like this one for my notebook last year. After 2 weeks it would only accepted a 32% charge, but since that means more than an hour it's actually ok with me. There were other batteries in the $90 range at the time, but how could I know if they were better or worth the price?

Have ordered from aliexpress many times, delivery can be slow on the Chinese side but i have always received my product.

Considering that you're a "Poor Sucker', still a great post. ( Please see it as a Germish joke, as so many Brits believe that Germish people do not have the needed sense of "black humor") Some of these "creatures" can differentiate between good and bad, some can even go further.......

I just came back from my "shopping tour" with my always saying the wrong words at the wrong time, where i was trying to buy the best and cheapest battery for my beloved notebook.

My Thai friend's shop, called ABC computer Sisaket, who expanded his business to quite a few other provinces, including Ubon, Surin and Buri Ram gave me an offer.

2,500 baht for the battery, but they have to order it....

Next destination was to my -now favorite- place was "Advice" computer shop, which seem to exist in all provinces by now.

They're only asking for 1,200 baht, including a one tear warranty. Tried to order it today, but they seem to have somebody in bangkok available.

The website, somebody kindly has provided seems to be the cheapest option, they advertise around 20 bucks including postal service, arrival unknown and you have to give your credit card details, (which I don't really appreciate) but I could receive a second hand bicycle from China and wouldn't know what to do with it.

To make my already too long story short. I'll order my battery tomorrow and buy it for 1,200 baht from Advice.

If something goes wrong, I can bring it back to them and let them deal with it. want a Chinese bicycle, btw."

Those shops seem to be the best and all provinces seem to have one, or two by now.

- Short update-

I checked several shops in Sisaket yesterday and finally found the right one. I was a little bit surprised when ABC computer in Sisaket was asking for

2,500 baht for my DELL Inspiron battery.

Last destination was "Advice" which seem to have shops in all provinces and towns. ( The blue/white ones)

I'll order my battery today and will pay 1,200 baht, coming with a one year warranty. Thought about this link to order one, but saving 400 baht and then not knowing what you get, doesn't make sense.

I was pretty amazed how cheap these "Advice" shops are selling their products. And they always have plenty of stuff on stock.

Hard to understand that some shops take more than twice, as I believe they all order it at the same place.

Don't want to spoil the mood, but have you compared the capacity of the cheap replacement with the 5200 mAh of the original part?

Sometimes they have a significantly lower capacity due to cheaper cells used.

Replacing cells: there are instructions on the internet/youtube how to do it.

But some of the plastic cases are that badly sealed/bonded/glued that it can get very difficult.

This is intentional of course, so people have to buy expensive battery packs.

I once asked some shops at Tukcom about "replace cells" but only got shaking heads.

I then opened my worn out battery pack recently but for the price of destroying the plastic housing.

Will have to buy a new pack wink.png

Buy a new, proper battery.

Otherwise the chances are you will get a new case with recycled cells and a very shortened lifespan. It's what's called a false economy.

Thanks again, dude you've helped me so many times that I'll buy you some beers when I meet you.

I'll have to check in a few minutes when I drive home at Advice. Will check where they order it and what brand it is. '

I don't think it comes with recycled cells, as they give a one year warranty. Will let you know what they can order, got my camera with me.

Just go to Pantip plaza, there are dozens of stores there that'll sell you the battery at a good price.

I've never had a problem.

They're not expensive.

I'm living in the lower northeast, exactly 570 km away from Bangkok. Just ordered my battery, hipower and I'll buy it for 1,200 baht in Sisaket at Advance.

Should be here by tomorrow, or the day after tomorrow. Just looked it up, please see link and I'm wondering if it fits in.

P.S. Not sure if it's the same hipower battery, just Googled it. Wait and see. But thanks for your tip, need an excuse to drive to Bangkok anyways....

But on the other hand, just added one of the most attractive girls from Advance Sisaket to my facebook and she really needs some lessons.....

Seems that Buddha sent me to that shop. God, is she cute. The battery, of course. coffee1.gif

Really useful -NOT.

All that piece of junk does is repeat what the Power Option Properties say - which happens to be incorrect on my laptop.

Where do your power options show battery wear and remaining capacity?

These packs normally just use 18650 li-ion cells, for which there are cheap (and horribly overrated) Chinese ones, or slightly more expensive, but reliable name-brand ones.

Given the specs on Amazon, I'm going to assume it's a 3S2P configuration - that means 6x 18650 cells. 3100/3400 mah Panasonic cells can be picked up for around 280 Baht/piece in Thailand, add another 100 Baht for a man with a soldering iron to install them, and you'll then have a 6200/6800mah pack that will last you years for 1780 Baht.

Sorry Noodle, but it was a genuine question mate. Do you have an answer?

Guess he/she meant that "Battery Bar? Better than the Pattaya bars. ( excluding some hotties of course.)

Purchased a Dell battery from Pantip approx 2 yrs 3 m ago for B1,100 and still going strong.

Admittedly, made in China.

Enjoy

DELL don't make batteries and all are made in China now. I bought a hipower (brand) for 1,200 baht and seems to be okay. Please read my thread to never buy something like that online,

You could order one right away from freaking China, but once you know how good their high speed trains are, you already know all.

Best place to buy any computer parts seem to be advice, with shops all over the country. I'm living 600 km away from Krung Thep....

- Short update-

I'm finally glad that I bought my battery at this shop, as I had some issues with the new battery. Not just that the first I'd tried didn't fit in.

The second one did, but it took quite a long time to find out to fully charge the battery, as it always stopped at 64.4%.

I can only reckon "Advice shops" in Thailand.

They usually have a lot of parts on stock, give you a warranty, a one week money back guarantee and some eye candies.\

I also bought my HD 500 GB for 1,440 baht not too long ago. Thumbs up.-thumbsup.gif
