Has been suggested that I get some American Money to take to Vietnam. Where is the best place to get in Bangkok?

As per above, you can try SuperRich, I use Vasu near Soi 7, Sukhumvit, by the Nana BTS Station in Bangkok. Also, on the other side of Sukhumvit, going eastward, is a Bangkok Bank with an exchange window out front.

I can see if you already have USD then those would bring a better exchange rate than Baht

but why would you change Baht to Dollars and then go?

you are paying the spread twice that way?

I'd get Vietnamese dong before getting dollars....since the trip is to Vietnam and not Vermillion, SD.

You can purchase VND at VASU as well. You'll need 950,000 VND for the visa on arrival if you don't already have a visa.

This morning at Vietin Bank, HCMC, if you buy dong, you get:

VND/THB

602 dong/1 baht

VND/USD

21,345/ $1
