Every year the hospital that my wife works in, organizes a long weekend trip to some other part of Thailand as a reward and a thank you, to the Doctors, nurses and other personnel, for their effort during the year.

All expenses are free, except for guests.

This year, wife decided to join the group going to Kho Samet, other groups went to other places.

As she insisted I go with her and have not much say, I paid my 6,000Baht share and joined them to their short holiday, to the dismay of all TVF members eagerly waiting to read my posts.

As we gathered outside the hospital at 10:00 in the night, I realized that the group consisted of 32 hens and 2 cocks, one of which was I, as only one other husband had joined the group.

The other thing that intrigued me was that most of them were carrying bottles of whiskey and beer.

Anyway the coach arrives and I asked the wife to sit downstairs, so if an accident we get out quicker, but she says……no, downstairs karaoke, we go upstairs.

Believe me members, till we arrived at Rayong at 8:00 in the morning, these hens didn’t stop drinking and singing all night.

The coach was shaking from the bass and the only thing you could hear was shrieking their heads out pretending to sing, all of them out of tune, while the whiskey was getting less and less in the bottles.

I joined them for a little while and I was singing the Greek National anthem as nobody would understand the difference anyway.

The coach was stopping every hour to a petrol station so everybody would rush to the toilet in a zig zag mode.

Have to admit, everybody was very polite to me and concerned about my wellbeing.

Even had a qute girl, come to ask me if I wanted anything and between my teeth I answered, Yes, you in my bed.

That’s when I felt that sharp pain on my side ribs and realized it was from my wife’s elbow.

Anyway, arrived in Rayong had breakfast and headed for the speedboat to transfer us to Sai Kaew beach in Samet.

Do you think it was easy to load these drunken hens on the speed boat?

No, but after lots of effort and rear pushing (loved this part) managed to get them all aboard.

For your info, Sai Kaew beach hasn’t got anywhere any landing structure so the boat can moor and the passengers get out.

So when arrived had to jump into the sea and make our way to the beach.

We all got our knickers wet but that was an experience.

Looking around at the beach couldn’t see much as everything was covered with deck chairs, umbrellas and loads of kiosks renting ski jets, floating aids, vendors selling all kinds of food and clothes.

We were guided to our rooms, that unfortunately I had to share only with my wife…….damn it………

The rooms were basic but at least they had air condition.

The Television had no signal and also had to pay 20Baht for WiFi a day that didn't connect to the laptop, only the mobile.

Had to go to the nearest 7/11 and get some toilet cleaner as the bathroom looked dirty to me.

May be I’m too fussy.

I really wanted to sleep but the wife insisted we go swimming so we went to the sea where we had to fight our way between the ski jets and the speed boats approaching to unload more and more tourists.

At least rented 2 chairs for the day for 50Baht each and went to sleep under an umbrella.

Next day we were told that we are going diving.

I was excited about that as I am an experienced diver, being Greek and born near the sea.

Going on the boat couldn’t see any oxygen bottles or any breathing equipment but I kept my mouth shut.

We arrived 15 minutes later to a spot out in the sea when one of the crew gave us a box full of tubes and glasses to wear and go diving.

Have to tell you here the box and the equipment was filthy.

So I couldn’t help and asked the rest, you are nurses are you going to put in your mouths that filthy tube?

Nobody took any notice and they all proceeded to the sea pretending that they were diving.

That night also couldn’t sleep as the music from the restaurants around was blaring till about 3 in the morning.

Thank God, next day we set off and came back home.

That was the story of my long Weekend to Kho Samet.

Said to the wife next time she goes alone and leave me to my misery.

You would have to pay me 60000 to board an unsecure coach with 30+ crazed nurses and one senile driver for a nighttrip through 1/2 Thailand.

Why didn't you drive yourself and look for your own accommodation?

It sure would have been cheaper, safer and less nerve wrecking.

Regarding the filthy tubes the nurses would not hesitate to put in their mouths, gave me something to think about...

I dunno though, Hospital trips away are fun. Reminds me of a holiday 20 years ago, with 15 other Nurses - took me about 2 months to recover from that 2 week holiday.

Looks like a nice jaunt and architecture lesson all built it.....my wife's company (when she still worked) chartered 28 busses to handle their employees - being a manager she was still expected to help keep people within guidelines of behavior - those coaches were a'rockin' with pretty gals drinking, singing, & dancing (which I will take any day over my families heritage instrument = bagpipes)......

OP, can I share my weekend too? Oh well here it goes. I cleaned my house, did three loads of laundry, did the dishes, cooked rice and fish that would last me for at least 3 days, took a few naps, chatted with my Facebook friends, and posted on TVF. How exciting but not as exciting as yours I suppose, lol.
