Went to Mercure today for baht 250 buffet. Since both Mercure and Grandview hotels are about 10 minute bike ride for me, they are in competition for my lunch money. No contest, IMO.

Mercure offers about 1/3 the selection, soups not hot, one kind of bread roll, 4 plates of sliced carrots, no Sushi, but yes a bowl of wasabi, one kind of cake...not very good compared to Grandview.

I might go back in one year to learn if improved, so until then it's GV for me when needing big feed. But price will increase at GV on 1 Jan to baht 220. Will still be best value in town.

Went here last Weds with my wife and we were both impressed with the English breakfast. The sausages were particularly good. A thumbs up from us thanks for the recommendation. My wife commented that the only thing missing was hash browns.

We will definitely return with our boys who love sausages.

Thanks for the tip WaiLai

David Duke Rivermarket has a limited reasonable tourist-oriented Thai menu.

having grazed their on a regurlar basis since its opening april 2012

the r/market has slowly fallen away in many areas

very disappionting as its ambience, location, and car park, are top draw

a lovely morning to allsmile.png

and probably one of the first major restaurant/land grabs to me made in the near future to cater to the Ch. hordes - just wish I had the coin to buy it first!

I hope you told her that they're supposed to be missing.

She knew it didn't come with any. They do have HP sauce which is good, not all places have it

one to add to my list, how do u get there from central airport can i ask? sorry for asking a dumb question but i am hopeless with directions and areas ii don't know. also hopeless at remembering names of places, guess I should have been born a woman! And I say that in jest ladies, ;-)

Head South on 108, Turn Right onto 3029, go to end of 3029, Turn Left at T-Junction of 3029 / Canal Road, Hang the first U-turn and the eatery is on the left just before you reach the T-Junction again
Went there last night on our arrival, dishes 80-150 baht, whole fish 250-300 baht, dinner for 5 inclusive of a large Chang for me 1400 baht, a frequent diner can get a 10% discount card. Edited by Paul Catton

Weird choice of name but hey who cares if the food is good. I will add it to my list of places to visit.

thank

They also rent mopeds.

Whilst Im here .

I did go to "Welcome Ann", just around the corner and I ordered the three course Christmas dinner , after we sat down, we were given menus , I just asked the waitress for two Sunday roasts . And too confirm , I told the waitress that we wanted two of the set menus as advertised outside .

Two Sunday roasts arrived, stone cold , not even a bit warm .

Through experience, I know that its not a good idea to ask for things to be made hot .

I ate it cold without a complaint or a comment .

Then waited for the dessert, which didnt arrive , when we adventually asked for it, we were told that there isnt one, because we ordered the Sunday roast and not the Christmas set .

They then went to go and get the starter .

I told them not to bother .

It was quite a nice place there, although the two big motorbikes parked inside, the bag of cement sat in the middle of the floor and the mop and bucket holding the kitchen door open and the family possessions scattered around, did give a make it feel rather too homely
