For 1500 baht a day, your best bet is to try and coax backpackers off Khao san road. It only works out at roughly 200 baht an hour. Not really worth getting out of bed for. :o:D

I am sure they will have no problem getting extras. At most of the shoots I used to do (not as an extra mind you) for soap operas, ads, MVs, the going rates were about that for extras, sometimes as high as aout 7-8k, sometimes even slightly less, and there were people willing to slave all day for that amount.

I guess they thought they would get discovered or maybe it is a fun way to spend one day out of 90 when backpacking. If prepared with a book and friends, it could be a fun way to spend a day.

Never met a group that were so willing to complain mind you; however perhaps that was because they got sick of waiting around for 10 hours?!

Plot Outline: A hitman (Nicholas Cage) in Bangkok to pull off a series of jobs falls for a local woman and bonds with his errand boy.

Hong Kong actress Charlie Young to play the "local woman". She's already here learning Thai.

I don't normally post on here, but this thread caught my attention. Can someone please tell me why, with all the stunning Thai women in this country, the producers have to bring in a pale, bland looking Chinese "actress' to play a Thai woman. Surely there must be someone with enough talent.

It says nothing for Thailand when audiences see a Kong Kong actress playing a Thai woman. Perhaps if she was a bar girl in the film it would make a difference?

Just wondering. :o

Methinee Kingpayome and Charlie Young

Thai or Chinese..........You choose.

Probably not.

I'm certainly not going to argue with the comparison between the pictures you provided, but as to the talent question....well, Thai actors and actresses are, in my experience, some of the least talented on the planet. Casting an international standard film here with local 'talent' is impossible.

Ms. Young (Yeung) is a pretty hot property these days, with a proven track record, albeit in Asian films. She was pretty good in Seven Swords and New Police Story (did not see All About Love). While Ms. Kingpayome looks very nice in a bikini I can't say as I have seen her in any feature films. Has she made any?

Much as producers for Memoirs of a Geisha chose to cast Japanese characters with Chinese (Ziyi Zhang, Li Gong) and Malayasian (Michelle Yeoh) actors, one assumes there are many, many factors that go in to the choice of a particular actor; talent, appearance, experience, language capabilities, availability, salary. My guess is that they're looking at the potential Asian box-office, and assume Ms. Young will be a positive factor in maximizing ticket and DVD sales? I assume, perhaps incorrectly, that the bulk of the "local womans" dialog will be in English, with only a 'fudgeable' amount of Thai required to get the story rolling, so no need for a Thai actress. I imagine this will get a lot of play in the coming weeks, and perhaps pressure will be exerted to swap in a Thai actress?
