Nida Poll shows most people want corrupt politicians be banished for politics for life

BANGKOK: -- Almost 70 percent of over 1,200 respondents agree with the proposed amendment of the National Anti-Corruption Commission that corrupt politicians should be banished from politics for life, according to Nida Poll of the National Institute Development Administration.

The opinion poll was conducted during November 26-27. Altogether 1,250 individuals were polled regarding the legal amendments proposed by the NACC.

69.28 percent of the respondents agreed that corrupt politicians should not be allowed to return to politics ever again so that they will not have a chance to repeat the offences again. 26.08 percent however think otherwise saying that the corrupt politicians should be given another chance to turn a new leaf otherwise it will be unfair for them.

Regarding the proposed amendment requiring local administrators and executives of local administration bodies to declare their assets, the poll shows 90.40 percent of the respondents agree with the proposed amendment against 8.32 percent who disagree.

58.64 percent also agree that the NACC should be empowered to arrest and detain those who fail to report to the NACC as required.

Remove the slander and libel laws. These were put in place by criminals to protect. Themselves. Then you can start on the corrupt politicians! Until then, Nothing will change.

How about corrupt people going to jail like the law says?

Would the public support that or is it only applicable to politicians?

Corruption is already a criminal offence and, as such, when found guilty should be subject to a criminal sentence. It is pointless looking to ban them for life when they are unable to meaningfully catch and convict them in the first place.

If they really implemented this on all levels, there would be no politicians left!!

They are all corrupt, all the way from the top, down to the officeclerk in charge of the copy-machine!!

If they really implemented this law it would become a political weapon on so many different levels, just like the lese majeste law. Politicians would never be able to lower their "pointing fingers" again.

If they criminalised the payer not the payee there would be 40mn people in jail.....everyone has paid at some point, many on here included.

Banished from politics? They should GO TO JAIL.

I do agree with you JOC, 100%.

So the army better stay where they are now so we don't have to worry about corrupt politicians.

Not all of them, but the clean ones started getting the dirty ones out already.

Ain't you happy about that?

The only solution, would be to jail corrupt politicians,

if found guilty,no ifs, no buts, then ban them for life,

but I suppose if they went to jail they would not be

allowed to to be a politician again, thats how it works

in most civilized countries anyway, thats why our man

in the desert does not want to do his time, why he wants

the slate wiped clean,so once again he can ride in on

his white camel and save Thailand, thats how he sees it

in his eyes anyway.

Yeah Thais want an end to corruption. As long as it doesn't affect them personally

The news before the coup quoted a favorite Thai proverb (came from China originally) -- "Everyone wants to get rid of corruption and benefit from it simultaneously."

"Almost 70 percent of over 1,200 respondents agree with the proposed amendment of the National Anti-Corruption Commission that corrupt politicians should be banished from politics for life..."

But not the corrupt politicians who represent their interests. whistling.gif

And u reckon that the army is clean?

Not all of them, but the clean ones started getting the dirty ones out already.

The clean ones? Example please....

At last, a poll I can agree with lol

The only real shameful thing in Thailand is to be poor!!coffee1.gif

You beat me to it!!!!!

Would be great, for the real, true, Thais, I mean, and have Justice dig deep about the bloodsuckers' assets, etc.. But it won't happen, for the exact same reason it will never happen with the RTP: because there would be about nobody left, no more politicians, no more police officers...!

And not to speak about what would happen whenever (never) the RTA, RTAF, RTM would be scrutinised (or examine themselves...) in a same way...

Add to that the 'officials' from ministries, provincial and locale administrations, landoffices, the kamnans and phu yais...

It's ALL of the people holding any kind of authority in Thailand that would take the fall, together with the odd few ones who did not actively participate in the HUGE CORRUPTION MILL, but didn't attempt to do a thing against it.

Thailand is like a green apple with a few small brown wholes on its surface: the worms are in the fruit, so many and for so long, that just the skin, the face, remains, and maybe a few seeds deep inside, the flesh, all the rest is gone, in the bellies of the big maggots, 'elites', old AND new, waiting for their mutation, ready to fly away and spread their dark wings over other countries, like so many of Thailands' super wealthies have done, and are doing every day.

As long as the real, true, Thais are not (not allowed) growing a backbone, what will by all means be braked off, stopped, for that exact reason, NOTHING will change! Thailand is in need of a Rapid EVOLUTION, or it will, in some years, not that far away, get the capitals, without the 'apid' small caps. IMHO that is, and I hope it can be avoided, as lost lifes and bloodshed are not the turf Liberty and Democracy grow on easily...

Come up Thai people, for heaven's sake, you, the Thai women, the silent bone marrow of this country, you, the Thai men, whose muscles can build the future, put your pride together, wear orange (the mix of red and yellow), for the future of the Nation, ...and of your children!

It’s the only way to go, “A new slate for a new Thailand”. And the big plus factor is, that we will all be assured that the grand scale of corruption will not be so easy to mimic.

The news before the coup quoted a favorite Thai proverb (came from China originally) -- "Everyone wants to get rid of corruption and benefit from it simultaneously."

Can you tell us the original proverb...? I think you just made that up... right ..? cheesy.gif

This is a partisan clean out. If Yingluck was in she could launch an investigation into the very people doing the good deeds now and find something on them I have no doubt.

No person should hold a position as a member of Parliament , or be allowed to be employed as a Government or local Government employee who has a criminal record, this obviously doesn't include parking tickets, speeding tickets more for Corruption , rape , dealing in drugs, Prostitution rackets , murder, the usual serious crap. bah.gif

How about being imprisoned for life? With fines of 50 million baht, that the immediate family is required to pay?

This poll is completely made up. Who did they ask? What did they ask? How did they ask it? It's all BS.
