Tree falls and kills couple at national park

BANGKOK: -- A mother and father died in a tragic accident yesterday morning when a tree fell down and crushed the family’s tent at a Kampangpetch National Park.

The family was having breakfast in front of their tent at the Khlong Wang Chao National Park when a tree collapsed onto their tent.

Mangkorn Wutthipanyadee, 32, was killed instantly while his wife Natthicha Wutthipanyadee, 37, died at the hospital.

Unluckily, in the wrong place at the wrong time. RIP. Hope the kids get some counselling.

If it was a wind/thunderstorm that blew a tree over its one thing. This was a standing dead tree in a area of human camping/recreation. Accident waiting to happen (overlooked or ignored) and it did. Anyone one should know to visualoly look around when setting up a camp/tent, but they construct housing in flood plain, at base of shear cliffs/slide areas, etc. so its not real susprising that this occured, sad yes.

Liability, never mentioned, no one mentioned as held accountable

This sad tree fall looks so intentional so as to make you believe in karma or god or some such. It is the photo that shows it actually looks like the tree meant to do it. Sorry for the dead and survivors.

RIP tourist guys. This was an unbelievable bad luck.

I wonder if any preventive maintenance could have avoided that?

Well I would say it would be very hard to find all the trees that are likely to fall but then the National Park would have employed people expert in such things to avoid such things I reckon.

Well they most likely would in other places.

I don't know but is it another case of some one taking their wages and not doing what they are paid to do?

I learned in the Amazon jungle that tropical trees don't have much root system. You really do need to be aware.

At least one or two fell in the area of the camp site overnight...

It's just like Pattaya - camping at your own risk.

Anybody who expects safe conditions in any Thailand camp site is being totally unrealistic.

But they were very unlucky for sure.

I said it before,and i will say it again,MAINTENANCE is an ugly word in Thailand.
