The Demise of Australian TV in Thailand

Featured Replies

Since being robbed of our life line, Australian Network, by our Government I have struggled along with the much inferior Australia Plus. Now that seems too to have disappeared. Does anyone know what is happening?

More money saving I'm afraid.

I've written to two politicians. Christine Milne replied. Foreign affairs said "we know".

Dear Adrian

Thank you for your e-mail to Senator
Milne
. I am replying on her behalf.

We can understand your concern with the loss of access to Australian news coming as a result of the government’s withdrawal of funding for the Australia network.

Your plight has been shared by many other expatriates and those in the region with an interest in Australian affairs and was anticipated by the Greens MPs when the decision was first mooted.

You can find more information about the Greens MPs approach to the issue at

ThaiExpat TV replied to me with the following:

Dear Adrian,

As of midnight on 1/12/14 the broadcasters of this channel have discontinued broadcasting in our region of Asia.

We were able to run a further 2 months. Now it would seem the channel is finally switched off.

Best regards
