I'm trying to find the rice pilaf box where you just add a little butter and the mix packet to the rice while cooking.

I found it at Villa Market in BKK but not in CM. Speaking of Villa, I wish there were one in CM. Anyone ever heard of them opening here? They sell several things none of the other stores seem to have.

I miss Rice-a-Roni and Kraft's Macaroni and Cheese. I even miss Hamburger Helper with American beef. Some of that industrialized food actually tasted pretty good.

Isn't rice pilaf just white rice/wild rice with pieces of vermicelli (the coils that you cut up with a pair of scissors)?

The way I make it is..

Saute about 2 tablespoons minced onion or shallot until translucent in olive oil or other oil or butter.

Add 1 cup rice, saute at low heat until rice turns opaque (5 minutes?) , sprinkle some salt in..

Add 2 cups broth (normally I use chicken), bring to a boil. Add dash of thyme or a few sprigs of fresh thyme, a bay leaf and a spring of parsley. Put heat on lowest setting, cover and let cook for about 20 minutes.

So for me, no vermicelli.

Also, i checked the rice section at Tops KSK and did not see any pilaf. They did have a couple of risottos though.

Kraft's Mac and Cheese has been seen at Rimping Promenada.

I see it regularly at Rimping Nim City also. Already have my stock of them. smile.png

That would be odd to have two major supermarkets in Maya

There were many rumours that Villa were going to open in Maya. I'm guessing they were put off by the rent one way or another.

I also add mince cilantro with the minced onion or shallot. wai2.gif
