AVG TUNE UP 2015 And Its Unbelievable Features.....

I paid for Reimage Scan & Repair, it was recommended, deletes files and replaces from its own bank, thought good idea, first time I did it. I restarted, Win 8.1 came up as a not Genuine, and it is bought and paid for at Wattana

Had contact MS, they helped so far, but I had to reload the disk, a pain

Chatted to Reimage, they denied that it was there program, but am reluctant to try it again

As an image program I use Clonezilla, however it's not for someone who knows nothing about computers.

Another program (a bit more user friendly) would be Macrium Reflect (Free version available)

I found Acronis a bit tricky, hadn't realized it was impossible to boot for restoring from USB-connected drive. As I recall, we had put the image on an external HD.

How did you do it ?

I've got one memory stick with three different boot able medias. Then backed all three machines up and stored them on an external hard drive. Whenever something goes wrong, it takes 20- 50 minutes to have it back, where I'd created a backup.

Please see steps attached.

I found quite a few other cool features of AVG Tune UP 2015. You do have the option that your notebook automatically goes into power saving mode, when not plugged in.

All three machines AVG 2015 Tune Up's installed on now, were never that fast before. Got them all up to 100 %.

I have to agree with one poster that always those make a program bad, who don't understand how to use the easiest programs.

When I think back what shitty problems I always encountered with XP, I'm quite happy how it's now with Windows 7.

I installed Classic Shell on the school computer, because I don't like the set up, as it's all in Thai.

I have a bad feeling that I might get a few days suspension, because it looks like I'm making advertisement for a program........facepalm.gif

AVG free best antivirus out there. Why? Because its free and does the job just fine.

Beg to differ, but it's good that you are happy, but my choice of AV would be Avast (also free) or Emsisoft AM (not free) but with added support of Malwarebytes and HitmanPro (both non-resident) and of course with Appguard.

As you can see from my post I go for a multilayer approach. Only a AV in these times isn't good enough !

It really depends on the user's workflow (playflow). Some of our actively working customers have never had an actual virus or a virus alert in their logs, they simply do not visit shady websites, don't download unknown attachments, use Google Apps for work and have an ad blocker in their browser. These guys can safely run without any antivirus at all.

I agree , but what about those advertising banners that can contain malware, even when you visit only legit sites you still can get infected.

People use hitmen for other purposes in Sisaket.

Registry cleaners remove items that they don't recognise. This isn't a good idea and really isn't necessary. I use Windows Defender, Panda cloud antivirus and Super Antispyware and have a quick sort through my cookies now and again. No program will ever protect your computer against malware, we recently got an infection after we gave our Wifi pass word to a neighbour...

Yep, items they don't recognize, which is fine. The AVG I was on about has a "rescue function." I'm still giving the program a try on three machines and all of them are very fast.

My old DELL 1440 runs like a race horse. Tune UP shows 100 & health. Shutdown and Start up time has dramatically increased. The "Duplicate finder" enabled me to delete files I had twice, or even trice.

So with this program I could free up 12 GB of files. It's amazing how the defragmentation works after a reboot. As I do not have an Ipad, or Iphone, there's even an option for these creatures.

Wish all CC cleaner free, AVG AV free Malware free, Kee Nok free, Why does my hamster doesn't show up anymore, free version, etc users good luck.!!

Would be good to know if that works. I'd really appreciate if somebody would give it a try. AVGeers.-facepalm.gif

My -renewable - Kaspersky Anti Virus 2015, Trial would have prevented the little ghost getting into your system.

So far as I know, AVG decreases your startup time and computer speed by disabling programs. Freeing up space on your drives really doesn't do anything for the speed of the computer unless your drives didn't have sufficient headroom. Same thing about broken shortcuts and orphan registry entries. Tuneup Utilities may have some neat features such as deleting duplicate files but there was evidence given in the court trial that convinced the court that Tuneup Utilities didn't do what it advertised. As an owner of Tuneup Utilities, I got an email informing me of the results of the class-action suit and instructions regarding how to apply for my refund. Of course, if you like the program and are careful about the cleaning that you let it do, you do have those neat features that you like.

True, we still run a lot WinXP machines, all on the internet, no virus scanner, the only times we had a virus was when some staff put in a dirty USB drive.

Best solution: install the OS on two different OS (and have a backup of both installations) use one for work one for shady webpages and disconnect the other HD.

Best tuneup software is already on your machine. Scan/cleanup Disk, defrag and several other administrator tools. All these add on maintenance programs do the same thing and are NOT needed. You can start, stop startup programs, disable add ons and many other tasks without these extra junk programs. These tuneup programs actually contribute to slowing a computer down by adding their own tasks to startup. Doing routine defrags is the easiest way to increase speed. The more programs you have on a computer, the slower it will run, plain and simple.

I have tried just about every memory hogging virus program on the market. I have now settled

on the free Microsoft Security Essentials, which works flawlessly. Then about every week or

so run spybot and malwarebytes to make sure everything is ok and to delete the tracking

cookies. A lot of these anti - virus programs are very memory intensive and will slow your

computer down. Kaspersky was one of the worst.....

I think it all comes down to what you're using your computer for. Download movies/porn/ programs, etc..and you'll be attacked by all sorts of viruses, Trojan whores, Malware and other stuff.

Avast was the most annoying one, always the voice: "A virus has been detected." drove me nuts. And of course did it not see the real problems. AVG free isn't a good AV program at all, download it with Baidu and you've got exactly the opposite what you wanted for your machine.

Norton was the one that slowed my PC so down that it was always a sort of hanging. I'm pretty much okay with Kaspersky Anti Virus 2015, as it does what I want. It deletes unwanted viruses and I was amazed how many Trojans, etc it found what AVG ( full version) Norton, Avast, and many others din't even find.

But this AVG Tune Up is a nice tool to keep my machines running. I believe its pretty similar to drive a real expensive car.All the nice features that come with a good car, won't prevent and accident, if you're a bad driver.

And my Malwarebytes started a war with Adblock, which finally led to the death of both programs. Then my UninStaller started a war with 32 system files and lost.

BTW, AVG Tune UP 2015 also helps to get rid off problems, when you can't open your Google browser anymore.\\
