Prayut gives civil servants three months to show results

This is an untenable situation. We have red thugs and yellow thugs all claiming their anger is "for the good of the country". PM Prayuth O-cha steps in, quells the violence, and does his best to provide stability.

I will wait and see. I think the world may be surprised biggrin.png at the outcome.

"He also said Thailand needed a five-year vision for stability..."

That's twice I've seen this comment recently.

You don't have to read between the lines to see that this guy isn't going anywhere soon.

As for detractors:

"They always criticise, no matter who becomes [the prime minister]. What's good about that? The proprietor will end up dying in prison" wai2.gifwai.gif

>>Prayut said Thailand has been caught in a "democracy trap" since the 1932 revolt, with so many military coups, so now, he said, the focus should be on strengthening people, the country and all sectors.<< Quote

Still dreaming about the "good old days" before 1932 !!

Surely but slowly moving the country backwards.

Instead of PM Prayut wants to become FL (First Lackey).

More and more the feeling this man is mentally not fit for the job 'school principal'? 'football arbiter'? (Few weeks ago he called himself so...). His family crying at home when he did his coup thing? Would a obligatory psychologic test be an idea before a megalomanic (and more manics) general can appoint himself PM + Chairman of the BOI?

I don't really want to read it because it only makes me mad, which affects my behaviour and stature as a leader when I fume.

Real men on a genuinely honorable mission, don't care what others say, and certainly don't allow things said to "affect" them.

The general seems like the kind of "man" who has a hissy fit when things don't go his way.

He is a army guy and I'm sure he isn't used to people questioning his orders.

sorry to break the news but I heard it on good grounds that the ' paper ' the general refers to is Thai Visa...

actually I tend to agree with him, never have I heard such whinging and blinkered thinking,

no matter what topic is discussed there is always excessive whinging............

So listen up you lot.....put some constructive positive views across , or you are going to make the general cross

Keep licking and, who knows, you might be granted audience!!wai2.gif

Today's BP quoted him as saying if he doesn't solve the country's problems, he might be considered a "traitor".

Did someone spike his eggnog with some Molly or Liquid Windowpane?

That's some amazing clarity and introspection...

The general will overcome this "Democracy-Trap" by declaring himself the great "Helmsman" and aquire the stage-name of "MAO TSE THUNG THE SECOND" .

Cheers.

What rubbish, what's your agenda?

"The proprietor will end up dying in prison" ... "But this time I'm really going to shut down this paper" ... so what ever happened to the "freedom of the press"? Non-existent here in THA!

You beat me to it. Clear words of intimidation directed at the press, but some posters still insist that censorship isn't that bad.

Intimidation. How's that?

Are you joking? "The proprietor will end up dying in prison" What do you consider those words?

He also said Thailand needed a five-year vision for stability ...

Translation:

I'll allow elections in 2020.

IF there's "stability" by then. And IF I don't get to liking this dictator thing too much.

The PM has a big job on his hands trying to sort out the mess left behind by all the previous 'democratic' administrations. I wish him and Thailand well for the future.

I wish him luck for the future.

So far he's well and truly stuck it to those beach vendors huh. I mean, that's real change.

.

Maybe Sony will make a movie about him, if he hangs in there long enough.

Title of the movie would be "The Hacker of Democracy." wai2.gif

What grounds would those be?

The real news about Thailand is not on Thai Visa. The limitations on discussions about what is going on in Thailand does not take place on other sites hosted outside Thailand. I happened to be looking at a VPN site the other day and noticed the amount of traffic through VPN coming from Thailand. The Thai's are certainly discussing their government more freely on sites hosted outside Thailand and reading all that made for soap opera like news about the some important family members elsewhere.

The criticism here on TV is mild so I don't think the PM is too worried as self censorship is working well here. It is puzzling however that a man so obsessed with correcting the problems in Thailand does not want open discussion. Isn't creating an environment of non critical thinking the first thing in doing away with democracy.

Those that were so happy to seen this coup should really be happy with themselves. They got a dictator which will insure order in the streets. Now all you coup supporters can insure your daily trips to lunch and dinner are not disturbed by pesky demonstrators. Ultimately this will fail as he can't hold on to power forever and things will go back to the way they were. Amazing Thailand is out and Happy Thailand is in - for now.
