Foreign Minister to join Thai-Cambodian JC meeting tomorrow

BANGKOK, 14 January 2015 (NNT) - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Gen Tanasak Patimapragorn and his Cambodian counterpart Hor Namhong are to meet in Siem Reap on Thursday for the annual meeting of the Thai-Cambodian Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JC).

According to Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow, the meeting will take place on 15-16 January 2015 with both ministers co-chairing the meeting.

The meeting will cover a wide range of cooperation projects, most of which are continuations of projects already discussed by Thai and Cambodian leaders during Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha’s visit to that country. Among the issues are trade, the development of transport routes, border zone development as well as the technical and economic cooperation that Thailand has extended to Cambodia.

During the meeting, both ministers will also follow up on the progress of establishing a permanent crossing point in Ban Nong Ian, Tha Kham Subdistrict, Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo, Thailand and another one in Stoeng Bat, Poipet Subdistrict, Banteay Meachey Province, Cambodia.
