UK Settlement - Umbrella Companies

Featured Replies

When applying for UK Settlement visa for Thai wife, if the sponsor is contracting in UK under an Umbrella company, would this be treated an PAYE employment or as a Ltd company when assessing the financial requirements?

Thanks for any help.

If you are contracted worker in the umbrella company, then you will need to evidence your income ( wage slips, and salary paid into your bank, etc). Limited companies are only a consideration if you are meeting the requirement as the director of such a company.

I've never sponsored another person's visa so not 100% sure but I also use an Umbrella and I'm treated by HMRC as a salaried worker on PAYE, so it should actually be the same as if you worked as a permanent employee of any UK company.

Thanks for help. As HMRC treat you as a normal salaried worked, then all should be OK. Ltd company must show one years receipts before applying.
