Revocation order for five land plot deeds

Caretaker Natural Resources and Environment Minister Yongyuth Tiyapairat has ordered land ownership documents issued for five land plots covering 114 rai on Khao Dang mountain to be revoked. His move followed the findings of an inquiry which found land documents that were issued for some of the five plots had duplicated other plots. Some plots were found to be part of forest areas. The panel, chaired by Thanee Viriyarattanaporn, Forestry Department deputy director-general, met yesterday in Surat Thani's Koh Samui district to discuss the findings.

Mr Yongyuth said he would assign Land Department chief Peerapol Traithosavit to revoke ownership documents for the five plots while his assistant Noppadol Pattama would file complaints against those involved in the unlawful issuance.

He said some occupants whose land documents were found to have been unlawfully issued had lobbied senior figures for help. However, he would not stop his probe into the land scam.

A source said the panel agreed land documents issued for the five plots on Khao Dang should be revoked as the areas had slopes of more than 35%, which by law cannot be privately owned.
