rijit
Well i just hope you are wrong rij because it looks almost certain now that Villas-Boas is our new manager! Also unless everyones lying Spurs haven't even approached anyone else. I still personally think that Benitez would be more suitable but at the end of the day we have to trust in the decisions of Joe Lewis and Daniel Levy. I suppose on a positive note Lewis became a self made billionaire on the back of making correct decions so we'll see. Expect Spurs to also part company with Bond and Jordan. Jumping the gun there a bit carmine, 'bookies fav' is far from being a cert!!!! the closest ive seen written by a reasonably CREDIBLE source that he's actually joining us is is sky where they say he's interested, 'as would ANY out of work manager it's a top job payin fortunes. but they then say there's been no contact from spurs. Barring jol and ari they havnt got a great rack record, lets just hope levy and co get it right and we stay on track if not, well,,,,,, lets not go there. rijit
Cant say i'm either unhappy or surprised about this http://www1.skysport...nfirms-QPR-move No one will be. What on earth Harry was thinking bringing in a sicknote 34 year old i'll never know That was one of ari's moans and sounded like he blamed levy for them , he needed a c/b and a forward, he asked for cahill and teves, he got saha and neilson, Not, imo, ,signings a team in contention 4 the prem title should have been contemplating let alone making. I would imagine Levy was as baffled as the rest of us when Redknapp then went on to complain about his lack of center backs.

To be fair Caulker needed a full season of first team football, which has undoubtedly improved him . No arguments re Corluka however. No AVB please. He's almost as gormless as Arri! Dont think it was solely aris decision more like Corluka wanted to go to play get games maybe b4 the euro's, he was getting NONE at spurs, no ressie games and often not even on the bench. saw him play c/b couple of times for us, tbh he was terrible, all round AWFUL strangely at ful bac he was ok and got by, but a regular c/b or even stand by, thanks but no thanks best be away somewhere new. And Caulker as smokes said it was a good decision to lend him out, barring injury it was win win.
sotsira
No AVB please. He's almost as gormless as Arri! I share your concern smokie, but it's looking more like it's gonna be AVB, if the media and internet are to be believed as that's what's being said the last two days. carmine
Why did Caulker need another season with another club? If he wasn't ready for the premier league why would they have loaned him to a premier league club? He was clearly ready to be a squad center back. It was because Redknapp thought he was strong enough at center back. He made a mistake and chose to blame others as per usual. Secondly, oh to be gormless and win a treble at 33 years of age with that win/loss ratio!!! Engage brains please Edited June 18, 2012 by carmine
MrRed
Well i think it is because you had 4 centre halfs at the club and he has improved with getting consistent game time,i would say it is where the loan system is at its best in this example.Next season you now have a player that has cut the mustard at the top level and is good to be play in the team straight away....high hopes for him and Smalling at the back for England. Corluka is completely comfortable at center back and Caulker proved "without a doubt" the season before he is a premier league squad play.
MrRed
Agreed but because of his season's experience Caulker now is a Premier League team player.
carmine
Agreed but because of his season's experience Caulker now is a Premier League team player. Yes he's a starting eleven player in most teams this season. (If we have signed Vertoghen, he'll start probably with Kaboul with dawson and Caulker in reserve.) Last season he would have made an excellent squad player and played a lot of games for us
MrRed
I would like him to be put in from game one and Vertoghon and left back. You will have to see who the manager is first though eh! :-)
carmine
Yes well before the forum can start running us down again and saying we'll never finish top four please give us untill the season actually starts to find a manager and a striker then it can be business as usual. No - thought not.

Yeah ari had 5 international c/bs even the most pessimistic of us would think thats enuf cover And Corluka whilst being 6th choice maybe he is ok for croatia at c/b but the times I saw him 4 spurs he wasn't comfortable or good enuf to be even 6th choice for Tottenham, the same way as caulker may have been ready for a middle table team as Swansea which they were at best last season, but he wasn't ready 2 be a c/b for a top four club, ,Imagine spurs him being in the squad putting him in through injuries, And he'd defo possibity what with no ressie game and his lack of prem experiences, Ive seen it b4 a promising career knocked bac or stopped, It was a good decision to lend him out, lets hope it works as well for us as post walkers loan worked. carmine
Totally agree with that rij. Let's hope Caulker continues to improve and claims an automatic place for himself next season. Funny i'd have thought he would have had a much quieter time playing for Spurs than Swansea with the likes of Parker and Sandro mashalling the midfield. He would also have had very useful euro experience and an FA cup run. In short flawed statement that he would have trouble at Spurs. I just don't understand yours and Rijits logic on this one. btw, i really don't think he'll get an auto starting place with the likes of Vertoghen, Kaboul and Dawson all looking for regular games. That would possibly be the strongest cb quartet in the league. Perhaps our training and medical facilities are also sub standard to Swanseas? smokie36
I think its psychological for some players too. Being a bigger fish at Swansea will have helped his confidence. Anyway he needed games....got them....and is now a better player for it. As I said hopefully he will carry that into the next campaign. Dawson for me might end up third choice yeah....and I've yet to see Vertonghen in a Spurs shirt.
rijit
Cant say that it exactly floats my boat seeing a manager entering into negotiations regarding his next job whilst managing his country at a MAJOR tournemont but hey what the f do i know!! http://www1.skysport...m-talk-to-Blanc And <deleted> carmine, at least you see that there is logic to the loan decision where's your little scenario relies TOTALLY on hindsight, Hindsight is a wonderful thing but when the decision was made at the beginning of the season knowing ari he was probably 7th choice at tottenham and not likely to even likely to get on the bench let alone play. they paid the wages got a decent season out of him and we got a player that's jumped up the pecking order and ready to contend for the first 11, MAYBE. time will tell. Rij, Corluka was also our spacialist cover at right back when we only had Kyle Walker. Sorry i presumed you knew this. He loans out an international utility player when we have no cover for his specialist right back cover and Ledley with only one knee who only managed nine games the season before,Now i'm sure you see what i mean. So, cut out the "<deleted>" comments and think about it! It was a f*cking stupid decision from the start. It was asking for trouble and thats what it got...nothing at all to do with hindsight. If you still can't see the logic please don't reply, i really can't be bothered anymore! Anyway, i find it hard to believe Laurant Blanc would be talking to Spurs in the middle of the euros...infact i find it totally unbelievable. carmine
Yes well the day i start listening to tabloid hacks and the likes of Tony Cottee then i'll just stop reading anything about football. The so called exodus if Villas-Boas is appointed is a load of b8llocks and i have that on very good advice. Secondly, our squad is currently dispersed all over the world, at the euro's or on holiday so who how how on earth would they have got together to discuss the candidates. Its just <deleted> faces' old chums stirring up trouble. Just another reason why nearly all Spurs fans are happy he was canned by Lewis and Levy.
