A pretty shabby display and the Gunners last sunday, got to admit, no Bale and all those new chaps and not a match for Arsenal, I was jolly dissappointed I dont mind telling you, where was Jimmy Greaves when you needed him? Didnt even make the bench!

yes, very strong and thats without the injured Eden Hazard, Kompany and Vermaellen.

They would be a great outside bet for the next world cup if it wasn't in south america.

Now how does this bode with people who are saying England aren't good enough because of too many foreigners in the premier league, academies etc etc !

it's such a straw man argument this though. there were hardly any foreigners in the english league through the whole of the 70s and 80s and england were still crap. chris waddle has been quite interesting on this one recently, banging the drum about youth development and size and physique still being valued over skill and technique in young players. it never seems to change.

If anything the national teams getting worse. How bad can it be when 31 year old Lambert is considered the best choice in his position?

The poor sods are going to be totally overhyped by the UK gutter press prior to Brazil '14 in order to be ripped apart when they get knocked out. Why not let them start as what they are, hopeless under dogs and see if they could shock us all?

yep. agree totally carmine.

I'm thinking back to 1966 and the winning team then. Seem to remember West Ham United playing a role.

Lloris. Capoue. Great pair for Spurs.

And to think the tiny totts used to sneer at Arsenal buying French internationals.

A little insight in too how the 4-3-3 formation works, no need for chavs to view as a bit too technical for them, they're still on the football equivalent of Ladybird books biggrin.png

Thanks Alfie, good blog.

Couple of good points made aside of discussing the system. Firstly, Eriksen is used to playing a 433 and this bodes well for us being as our most obvious immediate issue is getting effective ball through to Soldado.

Secondly, the guy makes the point that we can expect to see very strong sides being fielded in the europa to quicken the player understanding. All very well but whilst it could incur more injuries to the better players squad strength is something we have now. It shows the sense of having two players for every position.

As far as Dawson is concerned, much as i like him i just can't see him being mobile enough. Doesn't like a high line either.

I thought the opposition were very poor tbh. It's almost as though they didn't turn up.

"The video at the end of this article by Michael Jolley, who is a High Performance Football Coach currently with Crewe Alexandra...."

Looks like Ted Lasso has got some competition.

Yes it's a known fact that West Ham won the World Cup in 66,although most Tottenham fans disagree.
