Son looks like a footballer.

Spent 22m on him but he looks like he's worth it. Add to that 5m on Deli Ali, 4m on Dier and it all looks quite promising.

Make no bones about it though, whilst we deserved to win last night i don't think it would have happened without Hugo Lloris. The defense is markedly improved but theres still work to be done in that dept.

For the first time that i can recall under Poch, we played with only one

defensive midfielder in Dier, and it was the best we played this season.

4-1-4-1

This shows that 2 defensive midfielders isn't always necessary especially

when playing at home.

Question is, was it forced upon him due to both Mason & Bentaleb injuries?

Will he revert back to 4-2-3-1 regardless of opposition when they return?

I hope Poch learnt something from that team selection yesterday.

Yep spot on sots, much better having the spare def midfield player further forward and obviously encouraged more forward passes.

Now tell me what that Carlisle bloke's got on his head.

Dunno - didn't see. Could it have been a poor rendition of a fox or a sheep?

Carlisle United's nickname is "The Sheepshaggers" (mostly by away fans) on account of a large sheep field that existed in my days behind the Waterworks end and the fact that the now defunct county of Cumberland had more sheep than any county outside New Zealand. Can't remember the oft-quoted ratio of sheep to people, but there were more sexy sheep than lasses. I stuck to lasses but my first encounters were with the county junior discus and hammer throwing champion. I still shudder at the thought.

Officially, it's "The Cumbrians" or, in my days, "The Foxes"

Fun match. Thought Spurs were stringing it together in midfield much better in the last 15 minutes.

Could see how the officials missed deBruyne being offside, but really, Walker was off by yards. Players never learn though. Nothing to be gained by launching a tirade. A polite "you got that way wrong guys" is equally in(effective). How many times do we see a second yellow after a whine colour.

I'll bet when you called a win Smokes you didn't expect a floor-wiper!

Great game. Thought the commentator's final comment to the first half was a bit mean towards Spurs, who were already turning it round.

Love it when nerk Andy Townsend (where's that bandwagon for me to jump on?) calls it so wrong with that whiny fuax-apologetic put down air- by mid week he'll be waxing lyrical that you are capable fo getting the title!

Getting the equaliser just on half-time seemed to have knocked the City out of

their stride, they didn't get going in the second half ,while we raised our game

from the get go in the second half.

Lamela showed what he's capable of when he wants to, just hope he can keep

it going now.

Big question is can we keep this run going, unlike previous seasons?

Yes goals for him and Kane will have lifted the whole squad...and beating City the belief too for some.

Great result for us.

Great performance all round. Dier is turning into an extremely capable player. As Bob said, Lamela finally shows us a performance regularily seen in SerieA. First twenty minutes looks all too familiar with City pressing us well. They deserved to take the lead even though it was offside. Then the change around. City defending poorly and Spurs punishing the mistakes which is something we are constantly guilty of not doing.

Thankfully two offside goals cancelled each other out but really, how did they miss our opener. Yards offside!!
