HCM CITY: -- A UH-1 helicopter of the Vietnam Air Force crashed on Wednesday morning while during a flight training exercise, killing four crew members, according to Viet Nam News.

The helicopter crashed near a village in Pham Van Hai Commune in HCM City’s Binh Chanh District. The aircraft took off from Tan Son Nhat Airport in HCM City at 7.15am and lost contact at 7.23am.

The crash site was quite far from the residential area. The place was sealed off by the local authorities. The army, the firemen and HCM City police forces have cleared the debris under the guidance of Vo Van Thuong, municipal party committee’s standing deputy secretary.

Doctor Nguyen Dinh Tong, from Hospital 175 under the national defence ministry, said that the hospital had received the victims’ bodies and was preserving them.

After the bodies are identified, funerals will be held based on the national defence ministry’s regulations.
