LG unveils new Ice Cream Smart flip phone

Flip phones. Remember them? Well, it looks like they could be making a return.

On Wednesday, LG launched its new Ice Cream Smart flip phone at an event in Korea.

The Ice Cream Smart looks every bit like the phones that were popular about a decade ago. However, according to the Korean company, this latest offering combines the design of a typical flip phone with the technology and usability of a modern smartphone.

I like the idea.

I hate touchscreen "typing" but like using an Android smartphone.

I am not ecstatically excited about another millimeter saved in thickness tongue.png

I have a 5.5" Android thing.

I could well imagine to have a flip or slide full ASCII keyboard.

I just realized that the flip out is a "numerical" only.

So yes, THIS one would not be for me.

I actually use a old style numerical keyboard on my note 3 works well with my fat fingers and I make far less spelling mistakes with t9

My experience is that flip phones are too fragile, especially at flexible circuit board that connects the screen with the other part of the phone. Had 3 flip phones from different brands and they all had issues pretty quickly.
