Hello all Been a while

Well i had to back date a return flight by 5 weeks but was told by the airline that i could only swap to the flights shown on her screen due to the fact i had already used the first portion of my ticket

I tried telling her their were other flights, like the one i had before but was told they were only available for new bookings (even though there were seats available) - Also paid a change of date fee

Been a little while since having to do this & find it strange i couldnt get same flight on a different date when available

I dont really want to push the issue even though i will have a long long wait. They tend to overbook flights (last one was & changed me from selected aisle to window) cannot see how a seat change on the same make of plane can fix that or it could have been worse so do not want to go there

? is do you think these airlines should give you a seat on the time of your original booking instead of the worse timed ones IE 2am instead of 2.30pm 0r 5.30pm

Airlines fill their seats at different prices, I am guessing that you have a cheaper fare and that the allocation for that fare has already been filled on the flight that you want. If you want flexibility then you have to pay for it in the original ticket.

To change dates theres needs to be a seat in the same class on your requested new date and for the original ticket to allow date changes.....

This i can understand but they also make you pay the difference in price if any, & was never offered that

Was told the afternoon flights which i wanted were only for totally new customers

By the way this was with Singapore airlines in which i fly every month from Perth to Bangkok (due to the flight times) for an average price of $1100 for the cheapest Economy fare

As for No: 2 You are just wasting your time here

Yes, I think airlines should give you a seat on the time of your original booking instead of the worse timed ones IE 2am instead of 2.30pm 0r 5.30pm, but airlines generally don't give a whit what I think.
