Sod.

The Lifan rider of Laos fame complained of squeaking at these joints.

When he tore down and replaced, he put in the grease zerts.

I thought I heard a little squeak out of mine the other day.

Uh oh!

To modify, disassembly is the way to go, mestinks.

Sleeve is steel.

Hab links to downloaded files?

Yes that tube wont be that thick to do it is situ, but would guess the bush/es are bronze, possibly oilite, but being sintered may be a bit weak.

Will find out when I strip it, in the manual looks really easy.

Having a manual and a complete parts catalog means it is going to be a lot easier than the NV, where I had neither.

This bike does look very basic, which will suit me just fine.

Yes, surely bronze or sintered oilite bushings.

Not steel sleeve as papa and other owners suggested.

;-)

Machine in sutu.

Good idea.

Better to work squatting on the dirt than at a bench.

Saves removing two bolts.

I like the way you think.

The nipple installation is a simple drilled and tapped hole, M6 usually, so when I said in "situ", I didn't mean in the dirt, I mean't on my tiled driveway but with the joint still assembled, but now I see just two bolts, forget the question.

From the picture those nipples look quite vulnerable to damage from stones off the wheel, so I would remove them after greasing and replace with a shortened set screw.

Photos of that Givi 30L box I had fitted at Yamaha and I added a couple of stickers for your amusement.

But what do I call it?,

LiYam ?

Liaha ?

Yamli?

Or my favorite Yamfan ?

And some people will be cross that I've done that ;-)

Yes,we both fitted fine. As I previously posted,it takes 2 open faced helmets or 1 full face helmet and it's the quick release model. Looks larger in the photo than it really is.

My local Yamaha dealer got the Lifan rack modified with a Yammy rack,so I can fit it to her Sparky if I want. Be nice to buy another fitting plate and brackets, but Yamaha said, they only come with the box, shame.

Look to Givi - brackets available seperately

With road tires, and one tooth smaller rear and one tooth more on front sprocket changes,

Crosser would make a decent road bike IPO.

21" wheels handle rough roads a lot better than 17.

Two-up?

For some reason this seems not so good.

Not sure why.

I have seen young farang out there on Laos roads 2-up, with bags,

on 100cc.

Papa, have you changed your sprockets to the above?,and will that be enough?.

Cheers

The stock 17T front sprocket cannot be larger, only smaller.

The stock rear sprocket is 46T.

papa bought a compatible 42T Honda sprocket.

[ marked CBR150.]

Will install Monday when O-ring chain arrives.

At any given gear and rpm, the 46 ==> 42T will be ~10% faster.

No tacos on these bikes so...?

With my new bigger tires the bike seems to sit about a cm. + higher.

This will cause taller overall gearing too.

Experimenting here folks.

I think the original gearing suits 2up, so good for me though not fast, that's okay and perfect too for around town making the bike quite nippy. We managed to get up all the steep hills on Kho Chaing (2up) without having to change into first, but only just....

I have to say I like the way this bike handles the crap roads around here, I have to be really careful with the Wave, good as that is. There are a dozen spots around town to avoid on everything but the Lifan and the road works, well they are a laugh rather than a f**s*gbsr**b.

Just need or order my "Koenigsegg" stickers now......

Zounds good.

Lifan uses 1/2" chain.

Ur Honda 5/8" guess.

CFR is a lot bigger.

Just started mine up after the 3rd attempt, probably due to lack of fuel. I let it spin over without the cut off switch on first,to allow the oil to reach all the parts. I've been away for 2 months, not bad at all(for Chinese Junk!).

Help.

Cross & Xplore models...papa looking for a parts book to

expedite ordering.

An online link would be sweet.

They don't have book at the local 'dealer' in Naklua.

5 5

They just call Lifan central and describe the part.

This method seems fraught with potential mis-understandings.

On the bright side,

the replacement rubber tank-mount grommet\pad piece that i kaput-ed

made it through in the promised 7 days, 20baht.

I have this parts book in English, not wholly accurate as it is a world bike, with different options.

lifan parts catalogue.pdf

Any Idea how many links your chain was (or length in cms), I assume standard 1/2 pitch. I think the stock chain is not the best quality and if I change it now will save having to buy new sprockets.

... tank not done at paint shop.

I think they forget about papa.

Hooked up a temp gas tank from an oil bottle

and took bike to have 42T and new chain installed.

1600baht chain

made in Thailand

for MX

Super duper swell.

papa itching to get the tank back

to test out the new tires/sprocket & chain configuration.
