The section of road marked with red will remain closed for around six month.

PHUKET: -- As part of the new phase of the underground cable project in Phuket Town, Yaowarat Rd will be closed for a minimum of six months starting from today (March 2) while cables are buried underground.

The works on Yaowarat Rd, from the Suriyadej Traffic Circle (Water Fountain) until the junction with Dibuk Rd, are expected to take at least 180 days, and motorists are being advised to take alternate routes and/or avoid Yaowarat Rd when possible.

Phuket Municipality and the Provincial Electricity Authority apologise for any inconvience caused.

180 days? The whole road closed?!

Burying the cables is a great idea, but 180 days is outrageous.
