British citizen leaving Thailand returning to UK with Thai wife ( who has been granted UK settlement visa ) and my son aged 6 ,born in Thailand and has dual nationality holding Thai / British passports.I have just been told by passport office in Phuket that he must have a UK visa stamp in his Thai passport ..I was expecting to use his Thai passport to exit Thailand and UK passport to enter UK .Is the passport office wrong saying this? ANY ADVICE ON HOW TO GO ABOUT THIS

What passport office are you on about?

The child can indeed leave Thailand on their Thai passport and enter the UK on their UK passport.

Show the UK passport to the airline and the Thai when passing through Thai Immigration, obviously the UK passport on landing in the UK.

Strictly speaking a child who has a UK passport doesn't qualify for a UK Visa and could well be refused if they applied.

My wife does it all the time, show check in staff Thai and UK passport and Thai Immigration Thai passport if they query no U.K.Visa tell them he has U.K. passport too.

We have never had a problem since dual nationality was permitted.

Thai passport office advising on UK entry requirements? Really, think about it.

You have it right. Don't stress. Just make sure the airline sees both passports.
