Kawasaki Samui

Featured Replies

Sadly, just returned from a less than satisfying visit to our new Kawasaki shop here on Samui.

I have a Versys and wanted to replace the battery so dropped by last Saturday and they said "no problem, will order from Surat, be here on Tuesday". Great thinks I as they said they would call when it arrived.

Tuesday...no call.

Wednesday...no call.

Thursday...no call.

Went back to the shop and was greeted by blank stares but fortunately I had a receipt for my 1000thb deposit for ordering. Great confusion and it turns out they just never ordered it. Got my deposit back and told them how unimpressed I was, really don't think they cared.

Will pop back tomorrow and find out when the owner from Surat will be there next and I will have a word with him about the service.

Crap way to start a new business.

Sadly it seems it's the standard for most service businesses here. Sometimes you'll have great service, sometimes you'll have bad service. I bought a Z250 at Kawasaki and had great service most of the time, except once when an employee was really rude and uninformative, but he wasn't working there 1 week later. Same with Ohm Cycles, sometimes I ordered part and got it really fast, some other times had to call every day and even check directly with K-Speed(their supplier). Are you that orange Versys I saw 2 weeks ago, older gent with Thai lady? I'm the young guy with the mate black Z250.

Nope, mine is black, like my heart.

Only seen a couple of Versys on the island and my wife will never, ever want on the back of that thing, scares the life out of her.

What a shame, she's missing out.

I've been wondering, is the Can for Canada?

Yep, love the country, hate the cold and the taxes.

Do you ride Roo?

If yes please feel free to join us, always nice to have a descendant of an exiled petty criminal to chat with!

Going back to the original question....

Do Kawasaki bikes have a totally different battery,? .... seems to me batteries are fairly standard ???? ....

Perhaps ask JJ at the Castrol shop in Maenam, (near Maenam Trading) he's usually got a good supply or source of things, always good service. thumbsup.gif

Yeah, that sounds like the route I will be taking Jimmy, tried to help out the new shop with my business but got jerked around.

We can always take the Aussies at real hockey!

Well, gave them another try as my starter relay was hit and miss so needed it changed.

Popped by yesterday and after learning it is actually called a "start relay" they said they will order from Surat and call me when it shows up...sounds way too familiar.

Just as we are getting in to the details a girl pops out from the back saying "have stock...have stock!" And holding up a brand new boxed relay! So set up an 0830 visit today to install. Showed up, mechanic grabs the bike, nice girl grabs me a cup of coffee and 15 minutes later all is done! They got it right this time so hopefully they are working the bugs out.

Will try them soon for my next scheduled maintenance.

Oh yeah....almost forgot.

After circumnavigating the island looking for a 12ah battery I was about to give up when I spy a little mom&pop battery shop about one kilometer south of the Nathon intersection on the left side as you are heading towards Lamai. You can spot it because pop is always napping out front!

Went in and lo and behold they have an entire rack of bike batteries and I saw everything from 6ah up to 20ah. Normal prices and real nice folks.

So if you are looking for a battery give them a try.
