New movie set in Thailand: NO ESCAPE - Official Trailer - The Weinstein Company

An intense international thriller, NO ESCAPE centers on an American businessman (Wilson) as he and his family settle into their new home in Southeast Asia. Suddenly finding themselves in the middle of a violent political uprising, they must frantically look for a safe escape as rebels mercilessly attack the city. Directed by John Erick Dowdle and written together with his brother Drew, NO ESCAPE stars Owen Wilson, Pierce Brosnan and Lake Bell.

The trailer looks quite good. Looks like it was filmed in Chiang Mai in parts and according to Wikipedia, previosuly had the title of 'The Coup'.

I wonder if this will get released in Thailand given the current political situation?

hope there will be plenty of prostitutes, ladyboys and elephants in it

Sad - your worldview not the movie.

Maybe some old Western degenerate sexpats who when finally moved from their bar stools turn out to be ex special forces teenage mutant ninja turtle types - yeah!

This looks so awful.

How far would you go? As far away from the theater as possible. Pierce you went from Bond to this? Whats next begging outside Nana station?

The film-makers seem a little confused... the signs seem to be in a mix of Khmer, Thai and Lao. smile.png Guess there's only so much they could change when shooting on location.

Have live here for the past 13 years.....after they see this movie, mates at home will think I'm some sort of "Rambo" after getting through two of these coups already.

How will the TAT get another visitor to set foot in Thailand after this is released?

Exactly how many farangs have been killed in all of the Thai coups?

Balconies are far deadlier to farangs than any internecine violence.

Only two as far as I know.

Journalists Neil Davis and Bill Latch were caught in a crossfire and killed while covering an abortive coup in 1985.

A tragedy.

These movies just give ideas for bad people. Scare mongering to keep Americans in their homeland instead of finding cheaper countries abroad. =)

An Italian (I think) journalist was shot in 2010.

Wasn't a coup. Was a protest. Doesn't matter to the person being killed though.
