If you are driving thai car you need thai licence/international licence but of course if you drive your singapore car to thailand, a singapore driving licence is okie.

You won't be cover by insurance, one of the clause for isurance , you need to have a valid thai licence.

No problem with a good car hire company as you are required to pay extra for the insurance.

I dont know for private vehicles though.

The car hire co. would,nt give you the keys if you were,nt insured to take their car out .

I used to drive with my Singapore driving license while I am on vacation, but now that I stayed here and also own a car I had an International Driving Permit(IDP) issued by AA Singapore.To have an IDP is to save all the hassle when encountering a police check.
