Fish head = best/most protein

Fish bones = best calcium source, beats any dairy goods... (for farangs, crisp fried fish bones/tails are a good way to get used to it)

Are you the head of the household? ...the man of the house, the paterfamilias?

If so, then take a stand. Forbid the eating of fish eyes in your home.

Be strong-willed in situations like this.

In asian culture the man of the house gets the head

As long as its the wife giving head that's ok. If its the other sort of fish its all yours.

As long as it is a small fish, cause I don't like the big fish.

I always tell my wife: Just give us a little head.

I once asked some Thai's if they ate chicken eyes too and they laughed at this hilarious suggestion saying 'of course they don't', they only eat the fish eyes !

Personally I can't see much difference, I don't eat eyes at all.

This is what is called a Cultural Difference.

Quite so, but there is always "...some corner of a foreign field that is forever England."

Fish eyes be damned!

Vive la difference.......

There is a bit of meat in the "windpipe" that is lso fought over.

My wife always lays claim to the chickens bum (parson's nose) and loves to crunch on the cartilage of the leg joints.

I, on the other hand, enjoy a mouthful of breast.

Reminds me of a nursery rhyme - Jack Spratt...

That is not true.

That's what the men may claim, but in reality it is the oldest males wife..... Granny. who often actually runs the house.

How long have you lived in Thailand...... I've seen this with my own two eyes ..... in a extended family Granny often rules the roost because she id the wife of the Grandfather.

He may SEEM to be the head of the family, but even he knows well enough not to oppose what Granny says.

When Granny speaks even her husband listens.

She has their "respect" and her words are heavy.

I must admit that I am always a little baffled when people express distaste about what their Thai families eat. You chose to live here, you to chose to marry locally; deal with it I should think.

I can think of a lot of Western specialties that would probably raise an eyebrow or two in Asia.

Parson's nose - is that like the priest's nose. My mother used that saying in danish.

Perhaps you are a newbee...

Oriental people eat different...

I know some of some farangs that forbid them to eat rice...!!! Just let them be.

They are secretly laughing at us, for all the unhealthy food we eat, as well. I have also seen Thais refuse a steak..in favor of noodles, with chicken blood (jelly) in it. Quite common over here. Anyways, it is quite funny to see overweight farangs try to teach Thai people that pizzas and fried pork chops are any better.

Remember..you are, and will always only be, a guest. They tolerate us....not the other way.
