Thaivisa News Posted March 26, 2015 Share Posted March 26, 2015 Bangkok:- CentralWorld has issued a statement to explain that one of male models in the Central World Naked Summer 2015 fashion show was not completely naked. The event held at 7:15pm Tuesday became a talk of town and caused uproar among Thai online users. During the highlight of the show, a farang male model turned his back to the audience and suddenly removed his swim trunk to take a shower. A popular Thai actress, Praiya Soandokmai, was standing next to him. Praiya watched the model doing it with her mouth agape. She then laughed before the model helped himself to a towel with his back always turned to the audience. The two walked down the stage together after the model put the towel on. Many Facebook users harshly criticized CentralWorld that the show was too much and too explicated. They said the model could have taken the shower without removing the trunk. But on Wednesday, CentralWorld issued a statement that the model was not completely naked. Instead, he was wearing a G-string underwear that prompted him to look as if he were wearing nothing when he was looked at from behind. The company said it was sorry for causing misunderstanding to the public that the model had committed an indecent act on the fashion stage. CentralWorld added the event organizer did not intend to cause the indecent perception and failed to take into account that children might be watching the show. Meanwhile, Pathumwan police chief Pol Col Jarut Sarutyaporn said no one has filed complaints with police related to the fashion show so no action has been made so far. There was a picture in the Bangkok Motor Show prudes thread that shows farang female and male models in body paint and little else on the Carlsson stand. However, if you google bangkok motor show models, the skirts on the 'pretties' may be short but just like when the are side-saddle on a motorbike taxi, you see bugger all. I doubt you will find many Thai models, male or otherwise exposing themselves in public but it's not a problem for a 500 baht/hour farang without a WP. It's not THEIR culture is it? So CentralWorld had no idea what the show would contain? You believe that? I don't. Central are very professional in their marketing, promotions, marketing etc., and there would be no doubt that any event must fit into a set of guidelines which maintains & pushes the image that central are deliberately building and maintaining. So, if you were the store owner or the senior manager responsible, would you just tell an event organizer 'do an event' and with no further discussion whatever? No. Blame the event organizer. You accept that comment? I don't Wonder if the CentralWorld owners would like their young kids to watch this, on stage, in front of an audience, in a department store? When the Santika night club caught fire, the owners blamed the manager who blamed the band who in turn blamed their pyrotechnics provider who in turn blamed some minimum wage assistant they had just hired... and so it went goes on. Just leave it a week or so and Central's event organizer will be blaming it on the model agency who will point a finger at the models who agreed to strip before they in turn will blame those that were most offended for just being there and seeing it. Looked from the clip that he'd stripped naked...his arse was to the camera. He then picked up and put on his towel bathrobe. He looked to be a luuk khrung to me, but possibly farlang. Have to say both the wife and I thought it was in poor taste...felt nothing but embarrassment for the model...and we expect the police/culture dept will take some action. Related, the wife recently showed me a male catwalk clip on FB, we think in Spain, where all the male models were bucknaked and swinging along. Furthermore, the owner of CentralWorld is a well-connected HiSo and therefore innocent by default. It is pure sensationalism for the sake of marketing. I have nothing against nudity in proper context. In fact, one thing I hate about my home country (US) is how we feel it is absolutely okay to show someone chopping up a dead body - blood, guts, and all - but heaven forbid two people be shown making love. The problem with this type of marketing is that the next guy has to trump it. Then the next guy, then the next guy... until it all becomes inane and meaningless. You need look no further than the current state of the music video industry in the US, which is now virtually entirely soft-core porn. When MTV first came out (yes, I am that old), the videos were creative and entertaining and enhanced the music. That cannot be said anymore. In fact, much of the music is worthless and depends on the video to have any hope of an audience. Meanwhile, music videos here in Thailand still have a measure of creativity and cuteness, since they cannot just push out the soft-core porn. When sex and sensationalism becomes the message, then the essence of the medium gets lost. (not that this case would be considered art of any kind, really) The lack of this tripe is one reason I like Thailand. What I am thinking is the more daring models are either luhk kreung or farang and the organizers can take advantage of that. For example, an organizer wants the models to be 'more sexy' so the Thai models will be looking for boy shorts or a cushion whereas the luhk kreung or farang would be suggesting flesh-colored panties as well as shorter skirts. For them it's not THEIR culture and for the Thai organizer, it's not them that's abusing THEIR culture, just some uncultured foreigner or half-breed.
