Roofers - Good Ones - THAI only Thnks

I've had a BIG problem with a section of my roof since it was built 10 years ago. It appears to be the only section facing in just one particular direction. The other five sections are not problematical. Therefore, need a 'specialist' - Thai only. Had called some 'highly recommended' named 'Piset' last year, who didn't show up, however today promised (again) to show up Saturday. Anyone know this guy? Have experience with him? If not, any THAI recommends would be appreciated. Enough of the farang cowboys here. Thanks. Monsoon's a-commin' ...

Apologies if your nose has been put out of joint, but in my not limited experience here, no matter how good you may have been in Chipping Sodbury, you will have no clue as to how to guard against the slings and arrows of a diametrically opposed (weather wise) tropical climate. None. For example, against my better judgment, one farang covered this section with what appeared to be latex. Worked fine first night, ran down my louvered windows and walls when the sun came up. Next one, I kid you not, suggested FELT.

So, as time has given Thai contractors to work out the difference between thatching bamboo and tiled roofs, I'd go with one of them every time. PS, if I'd known what I know now, I would've opted for the tin roof I had in a beautiful old Thai style in the jungle house. Got a leak? Plug it up with mastic, job done

We had a problem with the roof leaking last year(rented house, the owners got a couple of different Thai's to fix the problem, both times the guy stood on the roof(flat gently sloping roof, scratched there heads then disappeared never to return, eventually it was sorted by another Thai guy who seemed to know what he was doing!

“It appears to be”. So you're implying that it could be an optical illusion and that, in actual fact, there could be other “sections” facing in one particular direction.

Appears to have turned out that way. I'm of the opinion most posters are 'back of fag packet architects'. 'Yeah, designed it meself' Hence all the ugly generic 'design' here. Hopefully this will change with the ongoing putsch to rid the country of those whose intellect appears to be on par with the indigenous people whom they so roundly deride

I understand your intention...just didn't really go that way.

I use almost exclusively Thai's to do jobs around the house.

For outside things they are generally pretty good, but for inside, they just don't really understand what foreigners demand, in terms of finish and detail, and I am often disappointed. I usually watch over them, buy drop sheets, masking tape and new brushes, drill bits etc, and make sure they use them.

I know what I want, but I have the handyman skills of an idiot. So I use the computer to draw good images and give good image examples of what I want, and I find that works pretty well.

Hope the roof holds up.
