Stay over in Tacheliek Casino on a visa run

Featured Replies

I'm due a border run before mid-April. No, not for stamps, vs second entry on a TR.

I want to ask if anyone has spent overnight in Tacheliek in one of the casinos?

There's historical entries here at Thaivisa.com about in theory going there, but nothing at all recent.

Regina seems to be the best one based on very old, historical posts here, but likewise I'd like to hear from anyone who has stayed there recently, particularly a farang overnighting on a visa run.

Is it ok? Alright for a night etc etc?

And before anyone asks, even with the VIP seats on the Green Bus, 5 1/2 hours either way is a bloody long way, and I've never liked doing it the 6 times I have... hence I'm looking to break it up.

Thx.

Which casino would that be? The one on the Burmese side of the Golden Triangle? I have heard rumours they have closed that one down, but I could be wrong. Still, one doesn't hear any talk about that casino anymore, only the nearby huge one on the Lao side, which is a Chinese investment known as "King Romans Casino".

To stay in Tachilek there are a few decent hotels, including a couple of new ones such as the Cherry Hotel and a couple more you can find on Agoda. If Thai immigration will let you leave without a Myanmar visa, I believe you can get a 14-day stay permit to stay in Tachilek and possibly the eastern Shan State corridor extending up to Mongla on the Chinese border.
