Hi all,

I recently bought a condo in Phuket and the cost of the water and electric meters as stated in the S&P showed THB 7447.

However the final amount shown by the developer to my lawyers came up to THB 14954.

Is that a reasonable amount ? I assume this total cost include the price of water and electric meter, cost of installation and deposits.

Any idea how much is the deposit and what is this deposit for ?

Thanks

Wong

The approximate cost of these meters only is water thb 200 and electric single phase thb 400

and three phase is slightly more.

That is what I have had to pay when replacing either of them.

I would have to challenge those costs. A quality water or electric meter and I would expect to pay much more. But to answer the OP there is a deposit to paid to the electric company to guarantee payment - for a single phase meter might be in the 6,000 baht range. It's been a while since we paid these meter deposits so I can't say what today's price might be.

I find it hard to believe that you can buy an electric meter for only THB 200 to 400 as well.

I've previously got some electric meters installed for another property in malaysia and that cost me about THB 7000 for one.

Anyway I'm pressing the developer to show me the breakdown and how they arrive at that figure, hopefully I will get some answers soon.

Deposit for a single phase electric meter was 6,000 baht a few years back, and I believe it hasn't changed.

We cancelled one recently, and got our 6,000 baht back from PEA.

Challenge you may LIK but I have just made a quick search on line and have found water meters for us$ 10 and upwards

and single phase electricity meters for as little as us$ 4 per unit. Perhaps the ones I bought were second hand? sad.png
