Best way to call Cambodia?

Featured Replies

I'm just here for a few weeks and need to make a couple calls back home to Cambodian cell phones.

I have a Cambodian sim working on roaming here, but it's run out of money.

What would be my cheapest option here to make a few calls ? Should I buy a SIM card? Which one's likely to have

the best rates or is there a way to refill a Cambodan SIM card from here? (Smart) Or perhaps internet cafes ?

Also, sending money, is there a cheap way to do it? Like Wing in Cambodia?

Thanks a lot!

Does Western Union have a presence in Cambodia ? They do here. Check their website for locations.

You are on visit here from Cambodia?

Store the the Cambodian SIM away and buy a Thai SIM (~100 Baht).

Dial 009 855 <number in Cambodia>.

Cost 10 Baht/min.

Quite expensive but likely cheaper than roaming your Cambodian SIM.

Maybe someone knows a cheaper prefix than 009?

Calling cards?

Buy a new 1-2 call ( AIS) SIM. Dial 008, then your number for Cambodia and it's really cheap.

If the person or persons you call have a smartphone and access to 3g or wifi, then indeed, LINE or one of the other free messaging/call apps would be the best way. Facebook Messenger is also very good.

Most are easy to install and set up. A phone shop can do if for the user in Cambodia if they do not know how.

Tried to check the rates for 008 on the ToT website, link is dead (404 not found) wink.png

Some PDFs on the Thai site, no cheap rate for Cambodia found (24 Baht/min).

AIS promotes 00500: 14 Baht/min.

and 005: 24 or 25 Baht/min.

Sorry, for any misinformation. Whenever I call Germany, I use this number and it's really cheap.

Didn't know that there's a difference to call a neighboring country. It's almost half when calling Europe, unbelievable.
