Back button on IE not working on site

Featured Replies

Hi Guys, not sure why this is happening (been like this for two days now) but after signing in and going to a sub forum (any) my return button on IE becomes inoperative. It sticks on a "Direct" command as in the below snap.

To move out of the sub forum I need to right-click and hit the page I want to return to.

Not a big deal, but something you should be aware of in case something is broke. Perhaps trying to direct to the home page? Don't know.

This is the snap directly after posting the thread.

As a test, I just now fired up IE on my Win7 laptop.

Went through the same page steps as shown in your screen caps, same link clicks to same article.

Right-clicking the BACK button only displays the links I followed, it didn't display any pages marked "Direct".

This could mean that *something* is inserting code in your html pages. Does anything show on those pages?

Have you made any changes to IE lately, any new ADD-ONs.

You could try doing a reset

Settings (cog wheel) -> Internet Options -> Advanced [tab]: Reset Internet Explorer Settings RESET... (button)

Microsoft's Internet explorer has always had some erratic behaviour, not compliant with HTML standards, and according to latest news Microsoft is going to give it up shortly. Trying to load it just now, I got this on my laptop with Windows 7:

I never use IE if I can help it but the version 11.0.9600.17501 I have seems to be the latest one as it updates automatically:

I don't know when the latest update took place and there seems to be no way to check. Looking at the URL, I see that it now says explorebing.com

I'm still running IE Version 9.0.8112.16421 as version 10 had issues so never updated. Updating to ver 11 now, will see what happens.

OK I'm back. That wasn't so painful. Upgrading from IE ver 9 to 11 only crashed twice.

Still not getting the same result as the OP. IE rendering ThaiVisa pages fine and no extra "Direct" links showing. So, very odd.

I tried IE once more just now and got a different error screen this time, with a different URL:

OK, perhaps this was my bad, the problem with the back button seems to have resolved itself after I cleaned (again!) the cookies & history/temp files and did a hard reboot.

I had no problems on my other laptop or my desktops at home or at work.

For info, the operating system (for the problem computer) is Windows 7 Pro and the IE version was 11. Running Norton Internet Security, system fully updated.

Strange.
