webfact Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 BOI probed over U-fun 'pyramid scheme'THE NATIONAuthorities yesterday investigated BOI International Company in connection with the U-fun "pyramid scheme".BANGKOK: -- Four suspects - Ritthidej Warong, Rathawit Thiti-arounwat, Chaithorn Thonglorlert and Apichanat Saenkla - have been held in custody with more expected to join them.Officials from Consumer Protection Police, the Anti-Money Laundering Office and the Consumer Protection Board visited the offices of the company in Samut Prakan after it was found in Consumer Protection Board records to be a supplier of facial skincare products to U-Fun Store Company.Kanokporn Thongjai, sister of the company's owner, said U-Fun Store had contacted her company about producing the goods.Her company had issued a quotation to U-Fun Store but never received a reply back from them.Her company had asked U-Fun Store to return the quotation but they said they had lost it.She later found out that the quotation was used to apply for a direct sales business licence. She insisted that her company had never sold anything to U-Fun Store.Pol Lt-General Suwira Songmetta, assistant to the police chief and leader of the joint operation team, said the suspects would be charged with another offence as they had intentionally falsified information to register with the Consumer Protection Board.All of the offenders were still under custody and police yesterday seized all of U-Fun's computers and servers, he said.Pol Colonel Angkul Klaiklung, deputy Consumer Protection Police chief, said Ratchada Criminal Court had approved the initial detention of the four of eight suspects.They might be imprisoned for five to 10 years and fined up to Bt1 million as punishment for fraud, he said.
