Bridges over Chao Praya

Featured Replies

I have to do some rides from Bangkapi to Cha Am

which Bridges can used with Motorbikes over the Chao Praya

Most of them, there are not many police checkpoints and the locals on scooters use them all the time. Me too if going to that side of the river

Rama 8 is off limits. Pretty sure the rest of them are ok. I know for sure you can use Pinklao, Rama 7, or Krung Thon.

For Cha-am, the best 'legal' bridge is Saphan Taksin from Sathorn Rd.

I believe Bhumibol 1 and 2 are off limits too...

They are officially but, I never see them checking and the thais use them all the time, me too. Beautiful bridges to cross

I believe Bhumibol 1 and 2 are off limits too...

Yep.. off limits but I don't know of any big bike riders that have had issues crossing myself included (lovely drive).

Jeez I wish I knew about going over the bridges before, though I don't mind my method at all, at least on my CBR250r, though I think it would be fine on a bigger bike too. There is a little ferry that crosses the river every few minutes to Praphradaeng, stopping at 9pm going and 8:45 coming back. I love it because from Bangkapi I just go down Srinakarin to Udom Suk, then left onto Sukhumvit for 200 meters or so, then take the right onto San Phawut, 3102, which practically runs right into it, just follow the bikes. The hard part is then finding your way to Rama II and 35, but it can be done with a GPS.
